Report Decries ‘Merciless Targeting of Christians’ Around the World

1LoverofGod

Well-known
“The merciless targeting of Christians — driven by hatred of Christians and the faith itself — emerges as a common denominator in hundreds of testimonies of persecution,” ACN declares in the report.

Today, “almost 340 million Christians around the world — or 1 out of every 7 — live in a country where they suffer some form of persecution, such as arbitrary arrest, violence, a full range of human rights violations and even murder,” the report states.

In its global efforts, ACN “is committed to chronicling and assessing the evolving phenomenon of the persecution of Christians around the world today,” it declares.

ACN also offers a definition of Christian persecution as “the mistreatment, discrimination, oppression, or violence directed towards individuals or communities who identify as Christians or follow the Christian faith.”

Such persecution “involves the infringement of their basic human rights, such as the freedom of worship, expression, and assembly, due to their religious beliefs and practices,” it adds.

Persecution of Christians is on the rise around the world, but 89 percent of all Christians killed last year are in just one country-- Nigeria. In that nation a Christian is murdered every 2 hours, totalling more than 5000 a year. In addition, approximately 10,000 believers were forced to flee their homes and go into hiding, while another roughly 10,000 were beaten, harassed, tormented and, in the case of women, about a thousand were sexually assaulted.

I didn't know. I wish more of this world knew what goes on. We walk each day thinking of our discomforts or our childhood mistakes or abuse and instead never know what is really happening to those being killed for their Christian beliefs. I saw that there is a movie coming out on the weekend of the fourth of July. Adrian and I are planning on going. It is about children being taken and put into child trafficking. We are talking about millions of children that are being forced into sexual acts by traffickers. A man went in and rescued many and this true story is being played in the theater on the weekend of July fourth. They want 2 million people to go to the theater and a portion will go for helping those children. If it is in your heart to do so please go because it is astonishing what those children are going through. They don't get a chance to know Jesus. The man who played Jesus in Passion of the Christ is the star of the movie. I hope many will see it. It is called Sound Of Freedom. These children are forced into this. This is about a man that was gutsy enough to quit his job and go in a save some children. I can't wait to see it. Love you all and may God richly bless you today.

Christians are facing persecution everywhere and what some Christians don't realize is that persecution is defined in many ways and while some are beheaded for their faith, others lose jobs or loved ones because of holding to their faith.

In fact Jesus said

"and ‘a man’s enemies will be those of his own household.’"
Matthew 10:36

It's becoming a practice in various places now for Christians to even be arrested for "thought crimes".
Praying silently in ones head is a crime if done in the wrong place.

Persecution should not surprise us. We are told it Will happen. But as Jesus said in John 16:33-
"In the world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have Overcome the world "

"Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution"
2 Timothy 3:12

"And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved"
Matthew 10:22

"Suffering for Christ is not in vain."

"But rejoice insofar as you share Christ's sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed"
1 Peter 4:13

11 "This is a faithful saying:

For if we died with Him,
We shall also live with Him.
12 If we endure,
We shall also reign with Him.
If we deny Him,
He also will deny us."
2 Timothy 2:11-12

I've seen and experienced hard persecution up-close-and-personal in islamic countries. I've also experienced and seen soft persecution in the U.S.

Christians in the US have no idea what's headed our way and aren't ready because faith here is cheap and easy, and the Shepherds aren't preparing their flocks. Christians aren't standing up against the political correctness and social zeitgeist that are causing soft persecution in some places, and some under such soft persecution aren't even aware it's happening, often because it's "creeping," or like a frog 🐸 in a pot of water slowly heated to a boil.

I pray that if The Lord tarries that I die well as a good witness to The Gospel, trusting God, and not as a crying, begging, screaming, sniveling coward.

Fortunately,

9 But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them.
10 And the gospel must first be published among all nations.
11 But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.
Mark 13:9-11, KJV

9 “But be on your guard. For they will deliver you over to councils, and you will be beaten in synagogues, and you will stand before governors and kings for my sake, to bear witness before them. 10 And the gospel must first be proclaimed to all nations. 11 And when they bring you to trial and deliver you over, do not be anxious beforehand what you are to say, but say whatever is given you in that hour, for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit.
Mark 13:9-11, ESV

 Just noticed these verses are a 911 call to God for when we face persecution, torture, etc.

Depending on which references one consults, the number 13 in Scripture is associated with a great blessing, which persecution is. Other references associate the number 13 with lawlessness and rebellion, of which persecution of God's children is an example, and a few writers associate the number 13 with Ishmael, the patriarch claimed by muslims, who persecute Christians today.

Exactly; it's one thing when you aren't getting a fist to the gut or your arms yanked until the tendons tear over your faith (been there done that). It's another when the blows are literal and the hurt is real, and most folks in the US aren't familiar with that level of violence (let alone most believers).

I hope they included US Christians in those numbers. Plenty of us are making our way through the court system because of persecution and many others we don't know about have probably just accepted the persecution without much complaint. In the US we're not being raped and murdered overly much for our faith as in some other countries, but we're experiencing persecution, none-the-less.

The Holy Spirit has a way of stepping in on our behalves when the persecution does come. We're soft, but our God will cover us during our hour of need. We just need to stay close to Him as best we can.

There is horrible persecution in Islamic majority countries. The more fundamentalist the Muslims, the more dangerous it gets. India is also having a bad time with Hindu fundamentalists. From the reports I have been aware of over the years, persecution is at an all time high

Exactly; I believe Satan targets the persecution depending upon the area and part of the world the believer is in. I think his goal is to put a believer not necessarily in the position that will cause the most harm, but in circumstances that will produce the greatest pressures to compromise and disrupt one's walk with the Lord.
