Protesters face off against Islamic public prayer in Montreal

Hol

Well-known
August 17 — Amid persistent rain in Montreal, counter-protesters gathered outside Notre-Dame Basilica for the second consecutive week to oppose weekly street prayers organized by Montreal4Palestine, a group with a pro-Hamas stance.

These prayers, held in public spaces, have sparked controversy since October 7, 2023, following a surge in anti-Israel demonstrations and antisemitic incidents. Last week, flyers published by the group referenced Yahya Sinwar, the former Hamas leader behind the 2023 massacre in Israel.

Protesters emphasized defending Quebec’s secular values and identity. One supporter stated, “It's been a rough 21 or so months since October 2023 and since we've had a lot of pro-Palestinian protests in the street that have been extremely hateful, somewhat violent... It's important to stand up for what's right, to be on the right side of history.”

Secular values... that's scary.
Translation- Quebec speak for traditional Canadian values without mentioning any religions. Quebec got tired of Muslims and banned all religious gear in public a while back. Nobody who works for the govt eg nurses, police officers, the bus driver, teachers etc can wear any religious identifier.

They are attempting to be fair to all and ban all, https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/quebec-appeal-court-decision-bill-21-1.7128447

and the people who object most, and launched an appeal are ......drumroll please....the muslims who are arguing it's not fair to them.

Quebec is trying to balance off Canada's hate speech that forbids targeting one group, that is causing all the trouble by claiming a secular society with secular values.

If we mention that 2 groups (Judeo Christian values) for example might be BETTER than the recent plague of Hamas loving Jew hating murderous Islamic fundamentalists, then guess who gets to end up in HATE SPEECH COURT!!!! Hint, it won't be the one wearing the hijab, they are the VICTIMS always, at all times even when they start the fight.

As good old Rebel News points out, this approach has backfired because Jews and Christians are peaceful law abiding people as are most other Canadians.

The Muslims on the other hand....

Which is why Quebec is clutching their pearls and invoking Secular aka Traditional French Canadian values.

Which include the Notre Dame Basilica, with it's Catholic historical values that inform French Canada even if they haven't been to mass in generations. This is of course why those Muslim invaders hold their "prayers" in front.

We've been politically correct for so long up here, there's a whole hidden meaning behind certain phrases.

We have THREE languages in Canada now

1-English
2-French
3- One that uses code phrases to avoid the official hate speech laws - a variant found in both the above.

If the group that was praying the street is so "secular," then why were they praying? And why is a blatantly muslim group being referred to as reflecting traditional secular values? The media-speak is so two-faced and biased they can't even do a decent job of hiding it anymore (or they don't even care anymore, or the directed agenda says . . .) :peek:

The group praying is the Muslims. Weekly street prayers organized by Montrealers for "Palestine".

And the group objecting is the traditional French Canadians who have to use the term "secular" values so they aren't accused of hate speech against the Muslims "praying" in front of the heart of Canadian Catholic French Canada, the Notre Dame Basilica.

It's Canada, I'm beginning to think we don't make sense at all!

I am so grateful to God for moving me out of there. When Andrea and I went back a few years ago to nurse my mother until she passed, I frankly did not recognize the place in terms of people and attitudes. So sad. I have wonderful memories of it from childhood and working and raising my own family. But it's not the same country any more. Certainly not in Ontario, and definitely not in the nation's capital.

aha speaking from the heart of the interior of BC (as in NOT VANCOUVER) back east has always been a bit strange.

You got yer Ontario Liberals that do a number on the rest of us out west that try to vote Conservative, then you got Quebec. Vive le strangeness that is Quebec! Je me souviens every single time they keep voting us into a pickle. It's either Liberals or they split the conservative vote by voting for the NDP or the Bloc.

And if that weren't enough you got the welfare provinces on the eastern seaboard. They all team up with Vancouver to stop Rural BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba from voting in some common sense.

Our polls finish at 8 pm Pacific, and long before the polls report in Manitoba even, the country has lost it's ever lovin' mind again.
