Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau intends to resign.

1LoverofGod

Well-known
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is reportedly expected to resign from his position as early as Monday, according to Canadian media.

The news was first reported by the Globe and Mail on Sunday night, citing three sources. The outlet said that it is unclear when exactly the Liberal Party leader will step down, but a resignation is expected to come before a national caucus meeting on Wednesday.

The news comes as Trudeau's popularity continues to dwindle in Canada, which has a national election planned for Oct. 20 of this year. The country continues to suffer from a housing crisis, a declining per-capita GDP and high inflation, among other issues.

According to Canadian pollster Angus Reid, Trudeau has a disapproval rate of around 68% as of Dec. 24, with a meager 28% of Canadians supporting him.

The potential resignation would also come after Trudeau, who became prime minister in 2015, braved a difficult few months in politics. In September, he faced a no confidence vote in parliament that later failed, despite efforts from the Conservative Party to remove him from office.

The word is he is still trying to remain, as more and more of his fellow Liberals abandon him.

Our political main stream media is really good at offering false hope. The Globe and Mail is doing this probably as clickbait.

Some of the alternative sources have been announcing his resignation on Monday but then insiders are denying it, and saying he is hanging on in the face of growing desperation to get rid of him from within his own party.

Jordan Peterson has the best take on who he is, and he has said it on many occasions he is a Narcissist. One example in Nov is this article in the National Post Terry Newman: Trudeau tokenism was 'dehumanizing,' former MP tells Jordan Peterson

but it's been a problem all along. He wants his core of "yes" women- and they are usually a bit dumb- compliant, ready to give Trudeau the praise he seeks and not get in his way and call him out for lying. The men he surrounds himself with are similar. He attracts fellow trust fund babies who milk the Canadian tax payer like cash cows.

He adores his own image and carefully points out how supportive of women and minorities he is. Until the woman or the token minority challenges him like Jodie Wilson Raybeault did in his first term when he wanted her as Minister of Justice to do something illegal for him. She taped him. It was a good scandal and if the Liberals of that time hadn't fumbled it, we would have gotten rid of him about 8 years ago. Oh did I mention she was Native? All of Canada loved her. She stood up for justice, truth, fairness and legal due process.

The truckers wouldn't have had a problem with her. She stuck to the law. But Trudeau wasn't expecting brains and morals coming from someone he figured owed him something for picking her. I loved her!

But Trudeau seems to think blackface and other racist stuff he pulls is just fine. He's such a defender of minorities and women and all in his own eyes anyway.

I think Jordan Peterson is right. Trudeau hates him on so many levels. Jordan has had to move away from Canada to the States as a result. That is a whole other story.

But bottom line

Trudeau is probably clinically unable to understand that he can't charm his fellow Liberals back into supporting him. Those he can't manipulate, he dumps like hot potatoes.

His wife got tired of the lies, the immaturity and the double face he presents. She dumped him. I just wish Canada could manage the same thing.

He's the same with the voters. We have voting machines now in Canada. Not surprised. Trudeau isn't taking chances.

The woke members of the Canadian side of my family are probably horrified and crying their foll heads off

Serves them right :tap:
 They'd probably disown me as a Canuck.

The Grits came today along with the horse paste.

I plan to try cooking grits for breakfast tomorrow morning. I'll follow instructions and hope for the best.

Anyone who eats grits must be a Trump loving American wannabe! Except I'm a patriotic conservative Canuck who appreciates fellow fiscal conservatives down south, not to mention enjoys a food challenge with foreign specialties once in a while.

Wow. How long ago did she leave him?

Any thoughts on who should replace him if he does resign?

Here’s a tidbit of info:

“As of now, there are two options for Trudeau's future. The Liberals could name an interim leader, which would see him stepping down as Prime Minister almost immediately. They could also try to hold a leadership election, which would take months, possibly allowing Trudeau to remain in place until it's completed. Either way, he's done for as a political force, and that's a great thing for Canadians.”

Trudeau says in a news conference in Ottawa that he will stay on as PM until a new Liberal Party leader is chosen

Trudeau shares regret of premiership

Trudeau, who is now answering questions from reporters, said his one regret of his premiership has been his failure to introduce electoral reform.

In particular, he said he wanted Canadians to be able to choose their second and third choices in elections.

Trudeau 'excited' for process that will choose successor

Trudeau says he is excited to see the process that will replace him unfold in the months ahead.

He says his Liberal Party was elected for the third time in 2021 to strengthen the economy post-pandemic and advance Canada's interests, and says that is the job he and his party will continue to do.

Parliament prorogued until 24 March

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says he's a fighter, and that every bone in his body tells him to fight.

He says parliament has been "paralysed for months" - after what he calls the longest session of a minority parliament in Canadian history.

Trudeau goes on to say that's why the country needs a new session of parliament, and the house will be prorogued until 24 March.
