Oregon Coast High Wind Warning: Gusts Up to 70 MPH Expected Through Sunday Morning

Medford, OR – A high wind warning is in effect for the South Central Oregon Coast and Curry County Coast, with wind gusts expected to reach 70 mph from Saturday evening through Sunday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Medford, the warning will remain in place from 5 p.m. Saturday until 11 a.m. Sunday. The affected areas include Port Orford, Nesika Beach, Gold Beach, Cape Blanco, and Pistol River. Exposed portions of Highway 101 may experience hazardous driving conditions.

Forecasters predict sustained south winds of 35 to 45 mph, with gusts reaching 60 to 70 mph. These strong winds could cause power outages, downed trees, and difficult travel conditions, particularly for high-profile vehicles.

Residents are advised to stay indoors and move to lower levels of their homes if possible. Those traveling along the coast should use caution, as falling debris and tree limbs could pose risks.

Authorities recommend securing outdoor objects and preparing for potential power outages. For updates, visit the National Weather Service website or local emergency management channels.
