Julian's cousin, who was not identified in court records, told investigators that he and Julian had been at a birthday party in the neighborhood when they "became bored and wanted to ring doorbells, or play 'ding dong ditch,'" according to the complaint.

The cousin told investigators that he and Julian both went up to Leon's blue house, knocked on the door and ran, according to the complaint. The cousin told investigators that the sound of a gunshot "caused him to look back at the house they were running from, where he saw a person, who he described as wearing all black, extend his arm and shoot one more time," according to the complaint.

--The guy shot a kid in his back while he was running away from him, killing the child, all because the child knocked on his door and ran away. Why in the world would he think that was okay? Drugs must be involved.

Welcome to today's world. It may have been a "hoot" to play this game back in the day, but there are so many things that are no longer safe.
Why? People are scared of the lawlessness of others around them, and kids need to be made aware of this and not encroach on other's property.
Other people are the lawless ones, who shoot first just because they have a gun and can. Some people are just plain evil. It's very, very sad........
but, it's the world we live in today and it is only getting worse. Parents.......teach your kids to respect others' property and privacy.............if you don't, you may very well end up a grieving parent. I'm sorry this happened..........but its not the first time and it won't be the last.

This is a tragedy. I will have to teach my children that you can avoid most problems by avoiding the 3 biggest pitfalls:

1. Stupid Time
2. Stupid People
3. Stupid Place

The more you check on that list the higher your possibility of something stupid happening.

People are crazier and the world just isn’t what it was when we were young.

You could always do what my Shawn did a couple of years back on Halloween. He was in his early 50s at that point and some teens egged his front door. He heard the eggs hit and jumped up and chased them down the street in his bare feet no less.
He actually out ran them, caught them and marched them back to his house, gave them a bucket of water and ordered them to wash the door. He also informed them that nothing better happen to any of his neighbors on the entire street because if it did, he would take their names to their parents and to the police. The door got scrubbed, nothing happened to his entire street the rest of the night. lolol

This is the kind of person who give guns and gun owners a bad reputation.

If you own a gun, you need to know the laws that apply as to when you can shoot.

If the facts as reported in the article are correct, its cold blooded murder. Perhaps he has PTSD, and a loud bang at night triggered him, but even then, its still murder
