There is a congregational version on YT that I love AND my favorite is the orchestra versions that brought unimagined emotion responses to the musicians as well as the crowds from Andre' Rieu......the lyrics are absolutely phenomenal but I'm wondering if the emotional reactions are more on the line of remember the sinking Titanic scene.

I've seen the Andre Rieu version on YT. I think alot of the emotion you see online is in reference to the Titanic, if the comment sections are anything to judge by.
It doesn't matter to me. It's such a beautiful hymn, and it's hardly the only one that makes me a little weepy.
