Minnesotans Fight ICE With Snowballs

I was told ICE visited WF recently, and they took away drivers. I hope this doesn't mean there'll be stocking, supply chain, etc. issues, etc.

I was also told another WF here was closed recently because the roads were blocked off due to protests. When I had originally thought the roads were closed because of ice (frozen water), I didn't know the WF at that location was closed. Wonder if ICE also visited that WF.

Originally hundreds of additional Federal agents, but locals here have found out it's actually over 2000 additional.

Somewhere, some Federal agency(ies) short-staffed. Would be nice of it were the IRS

NOTE: Federal agents from different agencies can be lent out to different agencies when the manpower is needed (basic agent training is the same, no matter where someone will be working).

Minnesota, Twin Cities file lawsuit in effort to stop ICE surge in state

By Nick Lentz, Ashley Grams, WCCO Staff
Updated on: January 12, 2026 / 4:00 PM CST / CBS Minnesota

"The state of Minnesota, along with the cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, are suing Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and other federal officials in an effort to stop the surge of federal law enforcement officials coming into the state.
State officials said the lawsuit, filed on Monday, is asking the federal court to "end the unprecedented surge of DHS agents into the state and declare it unconstitutional and unlawful."
"We allege that the surge, reckless impact on our schools, on our local law enforcement, is a violation of the 10th Amendment and the sovereign laws and powers of the Constitution grants to states," Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison said while discussing the lawsuit at a news conference on Monday afternoon.

What is ICE is allowed to do at private businesses?

By Jeff Wagner
January 12, 2026 / 11:19 PM CST / CBS Minnesota

"U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is making arrests in Minnesota right next to shoppers grabbing groceries. The tense encounters are happening at places like Target, Walmart and other private businesses.
Target appears to be a possible target for immigration enforcement in Minnesota. It's one of several businesses where ICE agents have arrested people, including staff, in both the parking lot and store itself.
What is ICE allowed to do at private businesses?
"It comes down to whether or not there is an expectation of privacy in that space," said John Medeiros, an attorney who leads the corporate immigration practice at the Nilan Johnson Lewis law firm. "If there is not a reasonable expectation of privacy, then the government has the authority to be there. They can conduct enforcement activities there."

This is also St. Paul schools, and expected to last through February 12th.
🤔 I wonder if fewer students is at least partly due to immigration/documentation status of the non-attending students and/or their Parents, etc.

Minneapolis schools to offer remote learning amid federal immigration enforcement

Parents and educators say immigration enforcement in cities across the U.S. has led to dips in school attendance.
By Rebecca Santana, Steve Karnowski and Bianca Vázquez, Associated Press01/09/2026
Updated 6:29 PM CST, January 9, 2026

"MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minneapolis school system will offer families the option of remote learning for a month, officials said Friday, responding to concerns that children might feel unsafe venturing out in a city where tensions are high over federal immigration enforcement.
Under the temporary plan, teachers will simultaneously deliver lessons from their classrooms to students in the classroom and at home, similar to the way many did during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Immigration enforcement in cities across the U.S. has led to dips in attendance, parents and educators say. Advocates in other cities facing federal interventions have sought remote learning options, particularly for immigrant families that might feel vulnerable, but Minneapolis appears to be one of the few districts to reintroduce the option of virtual learning.
“This meets a really important need for our students who are not able to come to school right now,” a Minneapolis school administrator wrote in an email to their staff late Thursday."

NEW: Minnesota AG Keith Ellison and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey Announce They’re Suing Trump Admin. to End Surge of ICE Agents – ICE Director Responds to Lawsuit (VIDEO)

Democratic anarchy! It's the Biden administration that should have been sued for flooding America with millions of ILLEGAL immigrants!

This whole thing make me sick to my stomach. Just to know we have so many twisted individuals who protest the removal of rapists, child molesters, and murderers. They are willing to let their children be victims of violent crimes. That is sick!

I pray President Trump can find a way to complete the process. If they are protesting now, just wait till the money stops coming in, which is coming very soon if not already. I'm sure some federal judge will force the money to continue flowing.

We're certainly seeing spiritual forces a little more openly in this situation...... which then makes these events make more sense, but still shocking.

I'm so thankful God's in control and in His timing overrules evil for His ultimate victory.

It's these kinds of situations that certainly shows God where hearts stand, justifying a soul for either eternal judgment and death or eternal life.

I'm praying for God's mighty hand in this situation, for law enforcement protection, that hearts, upon seeing certain realities recognize good and evil with more clarity. For repentance of sin and placing faith in Jesus for eternal salvation.

Not just Prosecutors in Minnesota; also Federal Prosecutors (see second article in this post)

At least 6 Minnesota federal prosecutors resign amid pressure to treat Renee Good killing as assault on ICE agent

By Aki Nace, Caroline Cummings, Jonah Kaplan, Sarah N. Lynch, Michael Kaplan
Updated on: January 13, 2026 / 5:49 PM CST / CBS Minnesota

"At least six career prosecutors in the Minneapolis U.S. Attorney's office — including Assistant U.S. Attorney Joe Thompson — have resigned as the office continues to face pressure to treat the investigation of the fatal shooting of a Minneapolis woman by an ICE officer as an assault on a federal officer case.
Thompson also previously served as the acting U.S. attorney for Minnesota; he was appointed by President Trump in June and served in the position until October. He resigned from the attorney's office along with Harry Jacobs, Melinda Williams, Thomas Calhoun-Lopez, Ruth Schneider and Tom Hollenhurst.
Two sources familiar with the matter tell CBS News the resignations stemmed from concern over a request to probe Good's widow — who was with her when they encountered the ICE agents — as well as the way that the case is being treated as an assault on a federal officer as opposed to a civil rights case.

Mass exodus hits Justice Department's Civil Rights Division amid lack of action in Minneapolis, sources say

By Sarah N. Lynch, Scott McFarlane
Updated on: January 13, 2026 / 3:58 PM CST / CBS News

"Several career prosecutors in the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division announced they are leaving the department, shortly after they learned there would be no civil rights probe into the fatal shooting of a Minneapolis woman by a federal immigration agent, according to six sources briefed on the matter.
At least six prosecutors, most of whom are supervisors in the Civil Rights Division's criminal section, will be leaving their jobs. Their decision to depart was announced in a meeting to staff on Monday, the sources told CBS News.
The announcement came after CBS News reported on Friday that career prosecutors in the section had offered to drop all of their work to help investigate the Minneapolis shooting, but they were told there would be no criminal civil rights investigation. The ICE officer who shot and killed Renee Good has been identified as Jonathan Ross, who a DHS source told CBS News last week was previously dragged by a car when trying to arrest a man in Bloomington, Minnesota, six months ago.
Although the Justice Department contemplated treating the investigation as a "color of law" civil rights investigation into the excessive use of force, it later changed course, two different sources briefed on the matter told CBS.
Now, the investigation is being treated as an assault on a federal officer, in which Ross, as opposed to Good, is seen as the victim of a crime, the sources added."

U.S. citizens recount being detained by ICE during Minnesota operation

"WCCO has documented multiple instances where ICE has detained and, at times, physically harmed American citizens in Minnesota since Operation Metro Surge began.
On Jan. 8, ICE agents held two Target employees in Richfield on the ground before forcing them into the back of an SUV. Minnesota Rep. Mike Howard, who represents Richfield, said he confirmed that both are Americans.
On Jan. 6, a naturalized citizen told WCCO that ICE left him hurt and hospitalized after they detained him. ICE then released him.

WCCO Investigates is digging in to share who's working with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and what we've learned.
We know some are first taken to the Whipple Federal Building in Minneapolis before being moved to a local jail.
Jails in Crow Wing, Freeborn, Kandiyohi and Sherburne counties are housing people for the agency. ICE said it has agreements with detention centers in the three counties. WCCO has asked how many people they've held and are holding since Operation Metro Surge began.

There's some serious spin happening in this case. It looks like some of those federal prosecutor resignations have nothing to do with R. Good.

Partial truths in the news are just as bad (maybe worse) than outright lies. I'm so sick of the news selecting the narrative to spin, that whips overly-emotional people who lack critical thinking skills into a frenzy to get a desired result. They're as guilty of murder and property damage as any of the rioters on the streets, and the politicians promoting this have Good's blood on their hands. I pray that those spinning this for their own selfishness, and those funding this in order to divide the USA and conquer will fall into the nets that they have laid for the innocent.

Praying also that this rebellion gets squashed and the people of MN can live peaceably. At this point my greatest consolation is that God is in control, and though He is slow to justice, it will come.

Since all of those articles are from CBS, the spin is not surprising. I would expect the same from ABC and NBC, as well as AP and all of the other MSM actors. The hard thing today is to find reliable news sources. Sadly, Americans have been left with very few. And none has the caliber of gatekeepers that the once proud and reliable MSM used to have prior to this modern era.

Of the local stations, CBS-affiliate WCCO (Channel 4, AM 830) is usually the least bad. Sometimes Fox9 reports things that other stations omit, but is often the worst locally for editorializing instead of just letting the news speak for itself.
Regardless of which channel/station, the news will spin simply by the quoting of State and Local officials, and this is everywhere, regardless of local politics. Also by which stories are selected for broadcast.
Fortunately, channels and stations are still broadcasting live/recorded live audio/video, so people can make up own minds about what the politicians and appointed officials are saying, and what is actually going on during various newsworthy events. I hate when a source is busy talking about the news instead of actually showing it, because it always get extra spin.

The article below . . . typical Minnesota weapon of winter (forever) . . . shovels. No permit required, cheap, and everyone, from kids to convicted felons possess for usual winter use. It's unfortunate when they're used in unlawful ways, but this isn't anything new. As a kid I was involved in a vicious (sharpened) shovel fight . . . we were defending our shoveling territory (our neighborhood) from the incursion of kids from another neighborhood  Shovels were sharpened because much faster and better shoveling/ice removal, but that also made them better weapons

ICE officer shoots man in leg in north Minneapolis after shovel attack, officials say

"A shooting occurred Wednesday night in north Minneapolis after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers were attacked by men with shovels during an arrest operation amid Operation Metro Surge, three U.S. officials told CBS News.
One of the men, a Venezuelan migrant, was shot in the leg but is expected to be OK, two of the officials told CBS News.
A large crowd has formed at the scene, with demonstrators clashing with law enforcement late Wednesday night. This shooting comes exactly one week after ICE officer Jonathan Ross fatally shot 37-year-old Renee Good in south Minneapolis."

6 Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.
Genesis 9:6, KJV

20 Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his:
21 And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:
22 He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.
Daniel 2:20-22, KJV

1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.
6 For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.
7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.
Romans 13:1-7, KJV

1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
1 Timothy 2:1-2, KJV

Considering the God-given power, authority, and responsibility of government, no wonder God pronounces:

20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!
Isaiah 5:20-21, KJV

and

1 Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness which they have prescribed;
2 To turn aside the needy from judgment, and to take away the right from the poor of my people, that widows may be their prey, and that they may rob the fatherless!
3 And what will ye do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation which shall come from far? to whom will ye flee for help? and where will ye leave your glory?
4 Without me they shall bow down under the prisoners, and they shall fall under the slain. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
Isaiah 10:1-4, KJV

and when government is evil and is no longer doing the Will of God (think Nazi Germany as a clear example), then

29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
Acts 5:29, KJV

What is the Insurrection Act, and why is Trump threatening to invoke it in Minnesota?

By Stefan Becket
January 15, 2026 / 3:04 PM CST / CBS News

"Washington — President Trump said Thursday he might invoke a centuries-old law known as the Insurrection Act to send troops into Minnesota, threatening a major escalation between the federal government and state officials.
"If the corrupt politicians of Minnesota don't obey the law and stop the professional agitators and insurrectionists from attacking the Patriots of I.C.E., who are only trying to do their job, I will institute the INSURRECTION ACT, which many Presidents have done before me, and quickly put an end to the travesty that is taking place in that once great State," the president wrote on Truth Social.
Mr. Trump's threat comes amid protests over the deadly shooting of Renee Good by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer and increased tensions over immigration operations in the Twin Cities. The administration has sent thousands of federal law enforcement agents to the state in recent weeks to investigate fraud and implement the latest phase of its immigration crackdown.
The invocation of the Insurrection Act could clear the way for the Trump administration to deploy troops to the state over the objections of Democratic Gov. Tim Walz and local officials. Here's what to know about the law:"

FBI: 1 arrested after protesters smash into unmarked federal vehicles allegedly containing federal documents

By Jonah Kaplan
Updated on: January 15, 2026 / 7:34 PM CST / CBS Minnesota

"The FBI says that a suspect is in custody after protests in north Minneapolis Wednesday evening culminated in vandalism and the apparent compromising of federal documents.
"One individual who allegedly stole federal government property out of an FBI vehicle in Minneapolis last night has been arrested," FBI Director Kash Patel announced Thursday evening. "The suspect is a member of the Latin Kings gang with a known violent criminal history."
Patel did not release the identity of the person apprehended, but added "there will be more arrests.""

"Dozens of alleged protesters smashed through two parked, unmarked FBI vehicles. They then forcibly ripped out a large lock box from the trunk and tried desperately to open it.
he crowd then appeared to tear through a second vehicle and successfully break into the locked container, which was already emptied.
"It feels sort of surreal. It doesn't feel this should be the world we have to live in," one protester said.
A woman showed WCCO what she claimed was inside: documents that appear to be from the U.S. Marshals Service.
"How they're picking them up, how they're finding them, where they're taking them to, how to access the buildings they've taken them to."

"The FBI is offering a $100,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of those responsible for the destruction and theft of government property in Minneapolis on Wednesday night."

"“Look at this vehicle, look what it says, it says ‘F ICE’,” said White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. “This is despicable rhetoric that we’re seeing.”
Federal officials did not provide information about what items were stolen on Thursday. However, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi says federal agents have arrested a man accused of stealing armor and weapons from the FBI, also alleging that he’s a member of the Latin Kings gang.

5 EYEWITNESS NEWS crews on scene reported at least one vehicle with smashed windows, with graffiti, and its contents pulled out onto the road. It is unclear who the vehicle belonged to.

“They’ve thrown fireworks at police officers and at multiple times gas was dispersed,” said Chief Brian O’Hara on Wednesday night, urging protestors to go home.
According to city officials, federal agents deployed tear gas into a vehicle as tension increased on Wednesday night, which caused a 6-month-old infant to experience breathing difficulties. The baby was taken to the hospital along with another child."

What are the rights of protesters and observers watching ICE operations?

"With the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) presence ramping up in our area, University of St. Thomas Law School Professor Rachel Moran is concerned about confrontations between ICE agents and protesters, with neither side backing down.
“It’s been very intense for almost a week now,” she says. “There are people who are really, really angry and who feel a sense of moral obligation. I think the officers are extremely aggressive, I’ve seen that roughly for six days now.”
At times, federal law enforcement and protesters or observers are just feet apart.
There can be a thin legal line here.
We talked to Moran and Jane Kirtley, a professor of media ethics and law at the University of Minnesota, about the scenes playing out across the metro.
One question: What’s the difference between observing and impeding when dealing with ICE agents?
“So, you’re legally entitled to observe. What you’re not allowed to do is interfere or obstruct,” Moran says. “So, the difference is, are you preventing the officer from doing something that is within their official duties?”
“The key is, you need to stay in a public place,” Kirtley adds. “You need to position yourself in such a way that you’re not getting in the way of ICE or other law enforcement.”
Federal law says it’s illegal to impede, intimidate or interfere with agents’ official duties.
“You can say what you want, you can jeer at an agent,” Kirtley notes. “But once you start physically threatening someone, or uttering words that the agent could perceive as a true threat to their safety, then you’re going to lose your First Amendment protection.”"

Trump cheers judicial move letting ICE continue to sweep Minnesota

President Donald Trump on Thursday celebrated the decision of a federal judge to refuse to issue an immediate temporary restraining order (TRO) against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operating in Minnesota.

"A highly respected judge declined to block I.C.E. operations in the very politically corrupt State of Minnesota. I.C.E. will therefore be allowed to continue its highly successful operation of removing some of the most violent and vicious criminals anywhere in the World, many of them murderers, from the State," Trump posted on Truth Social. "The great patriots of Law Enforcement will continue to make our Country safe. RECORD LOW CRIME NUMBERS!!!"

White House official says Minnesota leaders are staging 'insurgency against the federal government'

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller claimed Thursday that Minnesota officials are "clearly" staging “an insurgency against the federal government” through their rhetoric over federal immigration operations in Minneapolis.

Protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations have surged in Minneapolis over the past week, after an ICE agent fatally shot a woman who allegedly rammed the agent with her car. Minnesota officials argue that the shooting was unjustified, while federal officials counter that the agent acted in self-defense.

Miller was asked during an appearance on “The Charlie Kirk Show” whether the federal government was looking at possible charges against state officials, which Miller said would be up to the Justice Department.

“What I would say very clearly is that you only have to read their own words and hear their own words and judge their own conduct,” Miller said. “Understand that this is clearly an insurgency against the federal government. They are describing a federal government as an occupying force. Just think about that for a second.”

Miller noted that the federal government is responsible for administering the law, including federal immigration law, nationwide.
