Sanity eludes most of them. The ones I grew up with were drugged up much of the time. I doubt much has changed on the SoCal beaches.

Yeahi love watching the big wave surf documentaries, the fitness or lung capacity to hold your breath when you get wiped out is crazy
Lol yep.there were plenty of moments i"ve had in there where sometines God gives you a humble reminder of his powerI grew up body surfing at Huntington Beach in So Cal. Loved it, but knew my limits. There were several times I got dumped in what felt like a giant washing machine, and felt like I was under for several minutes but in reality, probably 5-10 seconds on little waves
Air expands as one comes up from depth, so must continually exhale as rising from any significant depth. Boyle's Law.Air expands in your lungs when you're under water so it seems to last a little longer...
I'm scuba certified, though I'm pretty sure my diving days are behind me.SCUBA divers never hold breath.
Me too. afibI'm scuba certified, though I'm pretty sure my diving days are behind me.
I had several opportunities to get certified, but it never seemed appealing enough for me. Its almost a regret now that I didn't, but then again, I didnt even snorkel once on the 4 tours I did in Okinawa.Me too. afib
Although I could teach the classroom, equipment, maintenance, and pool portions of some certification classes.

You would think I would be interested having spent most of my summer days as a kid on the beach, and over 9 years in Okinawa, but it never interested me enough. Most of my friends snorkled, but I was more interested in things above the water….I both Scuba'd and snorkeled on Okinawa, probably over a hundred times. The coral reefs were just below the surface and quite fascinating. Purchase all my Scuba gear on Okinawa back when the dollar was strong against the yen. I think I still have a punch card for tank fills for one of the MWR fill stations on the island. We crewdogs had a fleet of 3-4 old cars that we paid into each time we deployed there and could use them whenever we wanted. They were rust buckets but got us to wherever we wanted to go.
