Maine suspends Medicaid payments to Somali charity after audits uncover more than $1M in fraud

Hol

Well-known
The Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has suspended Medicaid payments to a Somali-run charity after possible fraud was discovered during several audits of the charity’s finances.

The DHHS found that the Gateway Community Services overbilled by more than $1 million from March 2021 through December 2022 for what was supposed to be “interpreting services” to Somali migrants, according to Breitbart.

Just the News reported on other allegations of fraud regarding Gateway Community Services that have recently come to light following the charges of at least a $1 billion fraud ring involving Somali immigrants in Minneapolis.

I don't know. I believe that a much smaller number were hired. Any excess monies probably got laundered back to NGOs and then to libertards.

Well, whoever the IRS has needs to commence the AUDITS ASAP.

Scuttlebutt here that Somali fraud in Minnesota is far larger than has been reported in the media so far. Once I have a good, reliable, source that can be quoted, I'll post.

It seems that fraud is rampant with most all the govmint programs. The Somali fraud is a small piece of the bigger picture of fraudulent activity.

All those Somali NGOs, non-profits, organizations, PACs, etc. need to be audited.
As well as Afghan, Syrian, etc. ones.
And all of the refugee, immigrant, and migrant "assistance" and "settlement" organizations. They absolutely need to be prohibited from buying housing (for all sorts of reasons).

As they unravel the tapestry of fraud, both government and non-government fraud, corruption, abuse, etc. will come to light.
It's easier to start with the audits of the organizations than to go from the government side, the coverups fall more readily, and the bribes, kickbacks, and corruption are easier to ferret out. Like rats scurrying off a sinking ship.

Vance Praises YouTuber Nick Shirley’s Report on Somali Fraud in Minnesota: ‘Far More Useful Journalism’ than 2024 Pulitzer Prize Winners

Vice President JD Vance praised YouTuber Nick Shirley’s reporting on fraud in the state of Minnesota, stating that Shirley had “done far more useful journalism” than any of the 2024 winners of Pulitzer Prizes.

“This dude has done far more useful journalism than any of the winners of the 2024 @pulitzercenter prizes,” Vance wrote in a post on X.

Vance’s post came in response to a video posted on X, in which he and his team exposed “Minnesota fraud.” Shirley explained that he and his team “uncovered over $110,000,000 in ONE day.”

“Here is the full 42 minutes of my crew and I exposing Minnesota fraud, this might be my most important work yet,” Shirley wrote. “We uncovered over $110,000,000 in ONE day. Like it and share it around like wildfire! Its time to hold these corrupt politicians and fraudsters accountable.”

The Pulitzer Prize has been so devalued over the past couple of decades that it no longer indicates anything of journalistic significance. For example, it was awarded for "investigative" Russiagate stories that we now know were completely false. There was no actual journalistic investigation involved, yet the prize was awarded. Worse, when the truth was finally revealed, the prizes were not withdrawn. A Pulitzer Prize, once a true hallmark of journalistic excellence now means absolutely nothing.

Maybe (hopefully) that can change.
