Wow!!!!!!!!! This is absolutely unbelievable! The utter lack of taste on Elton John's part is shocking, and Macron may as well be a modern Nero!

New video posted to social media caught French President Emmanuel Macron enjoying the Elton John concert in Paris on Thursday while the city and the country witnessed another night of violent protests over a fatal police shooting.

The video, shot at the Accor Arena where Elton John played for three nights as part of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, showed Macron tapping his foot and smiling while listening to the hit song "Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting."

The star had also played "Burning Down the Mission," according to the Independent, around the same time that Paris itself was burning in some quarters.

“Then the men turned away from there and went toward Sodom, but Abraham still stood before the Lord. And Abraham came near and said, “Would You also destroy the righteous with the wicked?

Suppose there were fifty righteous within the city; would You also destroy the place and not spare it for the fifty righteous that were in it? Far be it from You to do such a thing as this, to slay the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous should be as the wicked; far be it from You! Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?” So the Lord said, “If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes.”

Then Abraham answered and said, “Indeed now, I who am but dust and ashes have taken it upon myself to speak to the Lord: Suppose there were five less than the fifty righteous; would You destroy all of the city for lack of five?” So He said, “If I find there forty-five, I will not destroy it.”

And he spoke to Him yet again and said, “Suppose there should be forty found there?” So He said, “I will not do it for the sake of forty.”

Then he said, “Let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak: Suppose thirty should be found there?” So He said, “I will not do it if I find thirty there.”

And he said, “Indeed now, I have taken it upon myself to speak to the Lord: Suppose twenty should be found there?” So He said, “I will not destroy it for the sake of twenty.”

Then he said, “Let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak but once more: Suppose ten should be found there?” And He said, “I will not destroy it for the sake of ten.””

Loathsome beings.

So, my brother, how should we regard them then? As loathsome beings? Or as precious souls for whom Christ died and who do loathsome things as we did before we were saved by God's grace and mercy, despite our sin and enmity toward Him?
How about both?

Loathsome:
"For all of us have become like one who is unclean, And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment; And all of us wither like a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, take us away." (Isaiah 64:6, NASB 1995, emphasis mine)

"As it is written, “THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE; THERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS, THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD; ALL HAVE TURNED ASIDE, TOGETHER THEY HAVE BECOME USELESS; THERE IS NONE WHO DOES GOOD, THERE IS NOT EVEN ONE.” “THEIR THROAT IS AN OPEN GRAVE, WITH THEIR TONGUES THEY KEEP DECEIVING,” "THE POISON OF ASPS IS UNDER THEIR LIPS”; “WHOSE MOUTH IS FULL OF CURSING AND BITTERNESS”; “THEIR FEET ARE SWIFT TO SHED BLOOD, DESTRUCTION AND MISERY ARE IN THEIR PATHS, AND THE PATH OF PEACE THEY HAVE NOT KNOWN.” “THERE IS NO FEAR OF GOD BEFORE THEIR EYES.”" (Romans 3:10-18, NASB 1995, emphasis mine)

"Now we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those who are under the Law, so that every mouth may be closed and all the world may become accountable to God; because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin. But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed; for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus." (Romans 3:19-26, NASB 1995, emphasis mine)

Beloved:
"“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.“For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.“He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.“This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.“But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God.”" (John 3:16-21, NASB 1995, emphasis mine)

"For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. And not only this, but we also exult in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation." (Romans 5:7-11, NASB 1995, emphasis mine)

"Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love. By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has seen God at any time; if we love one another, God abides in us, and His love is perfected in us. By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. We have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son to be the Savior of the world. Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love. We love, because He first loved us. If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God should love his brother also." (1 John 4:7-21, NASB 1995, emphasis mine)

Eric, Adrian, I maintain that both of you are correct in that those who have not repented are loathsome, but not beyond the love of God. Sin has twisted them into spiritually misshapen beings, and in such, they do vile things and commit heinous acts. They are ruined masterpieces which makes them misshapen and loathsome, much as we were before we came to the Lord (Paul admits this about himself and those in the church in his epistles). But that said: our value does not come from ourselves, but from the value the Lord has placed upon us as His creations, fashioned in His image. I firmly believe that true love is caring for someone's greatest good; if that holds true, then the Lord sees our greatest good as being restored spiritually, bringing us into a right standing with Him, so that sin no longer distorts us grotesquely and our fellowship with the God who loves us is reestablished.

I hope I was able to convey my thoughts accurately here. Eric: yes, what they have done demonstrates their hearts. Adrian: with that in mind, the Lord still offers them the same opportunity He offered us, which no one deserves but we took Him up on.
And I pray that the Lord draw them to Him and they see what is wrong with their sin, so that instead of "loathsome", they can join us and feel as we do about sin, and offer the same Gospel to others to draw them to the Lord as well.

Absolutely, brother! The balance is what is needed. We were all unclean in God's sight, all under the same judgment. But God pursued us, giving us the chance to eventually repent and surrender to Him. And surely that is the message we want to publish on this forum site.
Exactly, bro. :) Recognize sin for what it is, but like the Lord, seek to restore rather than relegate to the scrap heap. :) Perhaps the Lord will use this to draw people to Him and from that, gain glory. :yeah:

Crowdfunding Campaign to Support Cop Who Killed French Teen Surpasses Million Dollars

A crowdfunding pitch to “support the family” of the French police officer who sparked the recent wave of riots across the country has raised over a million dollars.

The GoFundMe campaign to raise money for the police officer in Nanterre policeman, Florian M., who shot and killed a 17-year-old Algerian heritage teen during a traffic stop incident last week, has raised over €934,000 ($101,700,000) since the shooting.

The crowdfunding campaign was launched by Egyptian-born French economist and media polemicist, Jean Messiha, in order to show support for the officer “who has done his job and who is today paying a high price.”

Loathsome beings.

I have given this much thought and brought it to prayer. While Eric may have been somewhat confrontational, he is not so wrong. I wouldn't want our assessment of the behavior of Macron and John to err too far on the love the unbelievers end of the spectrum that we appear to be excusing the inexcusable. The behavior of Macron is a disastrous failure of leadership and a sickening failure of the French people. And Elton John and his band have rubbed much salt in the wounds of the French people by playing such songs as "Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting." and "Burning Down the Mission".

These man's behavior is broadcasting a message to the world at large that lawlessness is an example to be followed and that chaos is something to be celebrated.

This is unacceptable!

Utterly unacceptable.

Absolutely correct, Z. It is a difficult line to walk. But God's Word always helps us. When we take sober thought to an issue before we post, rather than falling into the knee-jerk reactions that often characterize social media posts, we are actually following James 1:19 and Proverbs 17:27-28 (and likely Proverbs 14:29 as well). So your well-articulated comments above, arising as they do from careful thought, adorn a good Christian witness. Thank you so much! This is the kind of discussion that makes a forum useful to all-- members and visitors.

Not everyone can be so eloquent, especially when they are shocked by such depravity. I will venture to suggest that the worst thing said on this board is quite mild compared to the sort of thing unbelievers probably had to say (I didn't bother to research that hypothesis)... I think it is every bit fair for even faithful Christians to express the truth about how they feel when confronted by indifference to suffering and flippant behavior in the face of a national crisis

What in the world does Elton John have to gain from doing this? I think he would lose fans rather than gain any.
Elton John is retiring; he no longer even does tours in the US, so I think he's not that concerned about "losing fans". That said: he probably got contracted to do this some time before these riots became a concern. In one pic I saw of him with Macron, he didn't exactly look all that pleased to be there.

All that aside, these riots and their kind will give the Beast all the excuse he will need in the Tribulation to implement is brand of control, including the mark. Very hard to riot when they can simply turn off their finances and whatnot remotely.
