Lesbian appointed archbishop in Anglican Church of Wales

dwb

Well-known

This is not surprising given the anything goes progressive society. I remember when the Episcopal church threw out the Book of Common prayer (late 1960's or early 1970's) and adopted a new prayer book, many Episcopalians moved to the Anglican church which was more conservative. Not anymore! I was raised in the Episcopal church and loved the formality and tradition of the services. It was one of the first denominations to embrace the gay culture, which lead to my departure as a young adult. The god of this world is always busy.

LONDON — Bishop Cherry Vann has been elected as archbishop of the Church in Wales, becoming the first woman and LGBTQ cleric appointed to lead any of Britain’s Anglican churches.

While the broader, international Anglican Communion has had openly gay bishops before, most notably Gene Robinson in the United States, Vann will be the first lesbian to serve as archbishop globally.

The Church in Wales, which broke away from the Church of England in 1920, elected Vann to the post on Wednesday.

Bad enough they appointed a woman, but she's engaging in unrepentant public sin, which besmirches and compromises the reputation and witness of the Church :furious:  :apost: :ban: :headbang: 😭

There are still churches in several denominations, which have formal, liturgical services, either exclusively, or as a choice. Some of them are apostate, but some are still conservative. There's at least one Baptist church in the Twin Cities that has a traditional service.
