I would be guessing it is from unvetted migrants, in other words illegals. TB is endemic in Central and South America. When Andrea moved to California with her middle school son in the 80's, as soon as they arrived they were forced to be tested for TB ... the same as all other legal newcomers to California. But the illegals under Biden were being processed into America without any medical history and without any medical tests ... let alone shots. So that's my first guess.

and/or the huge increase in homelessness, addiction, and untreated mental illness, and people crammed together in shelters/encampments.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand, everyone's immune systems weakened by years of wearing face diapers :furious:  :apost: :ban:

On that note, this year and the next few will likely be worse for flu, colds, covid, strep throat, scarlet fever, etc., etc., etc.

We live in NKC area. I was working by the NASCAR racetrack on the west side (Wy County). My wife works just north, up by Leavenworth. We have coworkers from Wy County and Johnson County too. Our son work south in Johnson County. The whole city is just as mobile as any other US city.

We are VERY concerned about this and are wondering why it hasn't got as much news traction, let alone alerts sent to schools, etc.

Because it's not PC.

If the rate of infection is very low, and it's confined to a specific population/people who frequent a specific place(s)/people, who do certain types of things, there might not be a need to alarm everyone. TB isn't as contagious as the flu, colds, covid, etc., and unless it's a resistant strain, it's easily treated with antibiotics.

I drove my tiny Miata with a coworker and his wife, who was in the infectious stage, sitting on the seat next to me for several hours, and I never contracted it or had a positive TB-tine test indicating exposure. In fairness, she was wearing a mask and we rolled the passenger-side window down a little (sub-zero temps and Autobahn speeds, so not far). My coworker and I didn't wear masks, although they did put him on prophylaxis because of the prolonged, daily contact. AFAIK, he never contracted it.
