Jesus Is All the World to Me :: By Dennis Huebshman

Well-known
Psalm 63:3: “Because Your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise You.” Psalm 73:25-26: “Whom have I in Heaven but You? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides You. My flesh and my heart may fail, But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Psalm 73:28: “But for me it is good to be near God; I have made the Lord God my refuge, that I may tell of all Your works.” (ESV – all emphasis is mine.)

Galatians 2:16 & 20: “Yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law, but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ, and not by works of the law, because by works of the law, no one will be justified. I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me, and gave Himself for me.”

For added emphasis, we go to Ephesians 2:8-9: “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”

Our Salvation and eternal Home in Heaven are a gift of God the Father because of the sin-free blood sacrifice His Son, Jesus the Christ, willingly gave for us on that cruel cross at Calvary.

John 10:11 & 18: “ I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.” … No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of My own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from My Father.”

Our Savior made it clear that He could have stopped His sacrifice at any time, but because of His love for all sin-filled humans, He completed His part of our precious gift. No so-called manmade deity can ever begin to match such love.

Our obligation is not to do numerous works or pay anything to try to earn our Home in Heaven. The steps are found in Romans 10:9-13, and are commonly called the ABCs of Salvation.

“A” is to admit or confess that we are all sinners and Jesus is our Lord and Savior, and the only way to the Father. “B” is to believe that God raised Him from the dead to conquer sin and death for all who will receive and accept his Son. And “C,” “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Jesus Himself said the path to come to Him is hard (Matthew 7:13-14), and the reason is believing there’s not more involved to become a member of His precious flock. We’re told in 1 Corinthians 1:18: “For the word of the Cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved, it is the power of God.” For all who are in Satan’s control, this “folly” applies.
