Javier Milei at Davos: Greek Philosophy, Roman Law, and Judeo-Christian Values Key to Save West

Hol

Well-known
President of Argentina Javier Milei warned at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, Wednesday that the West must once again embrace Greek philosophy, Roman law, and Judeo-Christian values to escape “our dark present.”

Milei spoke at Davos for the third time as head of state, having delivered a scathing condemnation of socialism in his 2024 speech and a fierce rejection of woke ideology as an “epidemic that must be cured and the cancer that must be eradicated” in his 2025 speech.

Well I'm with him on the Judeo Christian stuff, but Roman law not so much - after the Christian era was good law.

And Greek philosophy????? Not so great! Unless you want to agree with Socrates that evil doesn't really exist. And I wonder if he's a fan of Plato who didn't care for democracy, preferring philosopher kings to rule the people. Something that the Davos crowd LOVES. This is the philosophy behind Technocracy. Greek philosophy at it's best elevates man and removes God. At the worst it excuses all kinds of evil.

Prior to Christianity Roman law included such gems as Roman men being able to kill a child born to them before he accepted them as his own, even if they were his own.

Christian courts and judges took over and superseded ancient Roman law because the Christians were operating from a Biblical perspective in other words Judeo Christian law. Christians rescued a lot of babies chucked into the Tiber river to die, and these orphans grew up Christians.

I think he's trying to reach the Davos crowd and water down the Judeo Christian part of things, making it co equal to some really bad sides of classical Greek and Roman ideas.
