Israel launched an attack on Iran early on Friday. Sirens alerted Israelis across the entire country to prepare for an Iranian missile attack in retaliation.
"Following the situational assessment, it was determined that as of today (Friday), at 03:00, immediate changes will be made to the Home Front Command Guidelines" the military said in a statement. "As part of the changes, it was decided to shift all areas of the country from Full Activity to Essential Activity.

Rubio: Israel took ‘unilateral action against Iran,’ US not involved

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio says Israel took “unilateral action against Iran” tonight, stressing that the US was not involved and warning that Tehran should not target the US in response.

“Our top priority is protecting American forces in the region. Israel advised us that they believe this action was necessary for [their] self-defense,” Rubio says in a statement.

“President Trump and the Administration have taken all necessary steps to protect our forces and remain in close contact with our regional partners,” he adds

“Let me be clear: Iran should not target US interests or personnel,” he adds.

US helped lull Iran into belief no attack imminent

The US participated in a massive campaign to lull Iran into thinking an attack was not going to happen immediately, Channel 12 reports.

US President Donald Trump said Thursday that an Israeli strike on Iran’s nuclear sites “could very well happen” but advised against it, saying the possibility of a deal was “fairly close” if Tehran compromises on its atomic ambitions in ongoing talks with the US.

US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee said in an interview yesterday that Israel was unlikely to attack Iran without a green light from Washington.

Such an attack is not only by the Air Force, it is also by the Israeli Mossad.
It is impossible to eliminate Iran's general headquarters in one night, attack the nuclear facilities in one night, and attack the ballistic missile project in one night.

Iranian television reports that the Revolutionary Guard headquarters was attacked as part of the waves of attacks by the Air Force.

Foreign minister holding calls with counterparts around the world

Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar is holding calls with his counterparts around the world over Israel’s operation against Iran.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Ministry is operating on an emergency footing, and an emergency task force is operating Israel’s embassies around the globe.

Can someone tell me what is different about these strikes than the other big battles Israel has had in the last 15 years?
I feel like the news always hypes up this stuff with Israel. Always ends in Israel not doing enough, really.

For anyone who mistakenly thinks the United States has not coordinated with Israel:

On April 12, Trump gave 60 days to reach a deal with Iran

Today is the 61st day

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard commander Hossein Salami killed in Israeli strike, says Iranian state media

Iranian state media confirms the killing of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Commander Hossein Salami in an Israeli strike.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard is one of the main power centers within the country’s theocracy. It also controls Iran’s arsenal of ballistic missiles.

In addition to Salami, Israel believes the chief of Iran’s military, Mohammad Bagheri, other members of the military’s top brass, and senior nuclear scientists were eliminated in the IDF’s opening strikes on Iran.
