Israel receives 'findings' from Gaza via the Red Cross

Israel is preparing to receive findings transferred from the Gaza Strip by the Red Cross, with officials confirming the material will be sent to the National Institute of Forensic Medicine for examination. The Israeli Red Cross remains in close contact with the families of the two deceased hostages as authorities work to determine the nature and origin of the findings.

 
Hamas announced this afternoon (Tuesday) that it will transfer to Israel the body of a hostage who was murdered. No further details have been provided at this stage by the terror organization.

Earlier in the day, the Israeli Prime Minister's Office announced that the Red Cross is expected to transfer remains from the Gaza Strip to Israel in the next hour.

At this stage, it is not known if the remains belong to a slain hostage or whether they are other items being handed over for identification.

The Prime Minister's Office later stated that Israel has received, through the Red Cross, findings that were transferred from the Gaza Strip and handed over to the IDF and Shin Bet forces within the Gaza Strip. There, they will be received in military status with a military rabbi. They will then be transferred to Israel, to the Ministry of Health's National Center for Forensic Medicine. At the end of the identification process and in accordance with the results of the examination, an official notification will be given to the family.
 
The Prime Minister's Office made an official announcement Wednesday morning that the findings returned from Gaza on Tuesday do not belong to either of the remaining deceased hostages and that the families of the hostages have been notified.

On Tuesday, Israel announced it was preparing to receive findings transferred from the Gaza Strip by the Red Cross, with officials confirming the material would be sent to the National Institute of Forensic Medicine for examination.
 
Body of slain hostage transferred to Israeli territory en route to forensic institute

The IDF and Shin Bet announced that the coffin of the slain hostage, accompanied by an IDF force, crossed the border from Gaza into Israeli territory and is making its way to the National Forensic Medicine Center, where the identification process will be carried out.
 
Israeli officials confirmed on Thursday that the remains of Sudthisak Rinthalak, a Thai citizen killed during the October 7, 2023 Hamas-led assault, have been positively identified following their transfer to Israel.

The announcement came after representatives from the IDF and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs notified his family of the confirmation.
