Israel Prepares to Move Aircraft From Ben-Gurion Airport As Airlines Brace For Iranian Missile Threat

Israel’s commercial airlines are quietly preparing contingency plans to move their aircraft out of Ben-Gurion Airport amid mounting concern that Iranian missile fire could threaten aviation infrastructure, Miri Regev said Wednesday.

Speaking in an interview with Israeli radio station 103FM, Regev said carriers including El Al, Arkia, and Israir are prepared to evacuate their fleets to destinations abroad if instructed, drawing on plans refined during past escalations with Iran.

“We have not received instructions to evacuate the fleet, but we are prepared according to pre-established plans to carry out the mission if required,” a senior official at one of the airlines said.

For now, airline operations are continuing as normal. But industry officials said the experience of a previous evacuation during the Israel–Iran conflict earlier this year has left carriers better positioned to act quickly.

“We’ll Fire Everything We Have”: Tehran Threatens “All-Out” Response as U.S. Forces Move Toward Middle East

Iran’s foreign minister issued the most direct threat yet Wednesday against the United States after Tehran’s bloody crackdown on protesters, warning the Islamic Republic will be “firing back with everything we have if we come under renewed attack.”

The comments by Abbas Araghchi, who saw his invitation to the World Economic Forum in Davos rescinded over the killings, comes as an American aircraft carrier group moves westward toward the Middle East from Asia. American fighter jets and other equipment appears to be moving in the Mideast after a major U.S. military deployment in the Caribbean saw troops seize Venezuela’s Nicolás Maduro.

Mideast nations, particularly diplomats from Gulf Arab countries, had lobbied Trump not to attack. Last week, Iran shut its airspace, likely in anticipation of a strike.

The USS Abraham Lincoln, which had been in the South China Sea in recent days, had passed through the Strait of Malacca, a key waterway connecting the South China Sea and Indian Ocean, by Tuesday, ship-tracking data showed.

A U.S. Navy official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the aircraft carrier and three accompanying destroyers were heading west.

While naval and other defense officials stopped short of saying the carrier strike group was headed to the Middle East, its current heading and location in the Indian Ocean means it is only days away from moving into the region. Meanwhile, U.S. military images released in recent days showed F-15E Strike Eagles arriving in the Mideast and forces in the region moving a HIMARS missile system, the type used with great success by Ukraine after Russia’s full-scale invasion in the country in 2022.

Iran protest crackdown toll may top 20,000. “Mai Sato said earlier this week that civilian deaths were estimated at 5,000 or more, adding that medical reports suggested the toll could be far higher, at about 20,000 or more. The US-based Human Rights Activist News Agency (HRANA) said it has verified 4,902 deaths since unrest erupted in late December and is reviewing a further 9,387 suspected fatalities, while more than 26,000 people have been arrested, according to a statement on its website.”

Rabbi warns all of Israel about Iran: "Let's not be afraid, there must be war. The Iranian regime will fall." The rabbi says that eventually the Iranian government will fall, but with Iran, there will not only be a war between Israel and Iran, but a world war. - I will soon publish a teaching in which I collected information on this particular matter where it is seen that this war will lead to the battle of Gog and Magog known by Jews, Christians and Muslims.“

A phone call was held today between the President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, and the President of Turkey, Erdoğan, during which the Turkish president said: Peace, stability, and the security of Iran are of strategic and vital importance for Turkey. We oppose external intervention in Iran. Iran's principled and orderly approach in dealing with the protests is worthy of appreciation.

According to various reports, the missile destroyer Roosevelt (not the aircraft carrier of the same name) was diverted from the Persian Gulf to the eastern Mediterranean. Intuitively, this seems like a "retreat" from the theater of operations, but in fact it is an improvement in positions: the Roosevelt is armed with SM-3 missiles designed to intercept ballistic missiles, and the optimal location to defend Israel with them is from the eastern Mediterranean and not from the Gulf. There are various technical reasons for this. Among other things, it is easier to intercept a ballistic missile when it is coming towards you rather than when you are "chasing" it, and additionally the SM-3 performs the interception in space and must wait for the Iranian missile to reach there - it cannot intercept the missile at the beginning of its flight, while it is still within the atmosphere. New satellite images reveal that the US deployed 17 F15 aircraft in bases in Jordan in recent days, along with 4 C-17 transport planes that brought equipment and supplies. Analysts claim that the base may become a central operational hub for any possible American strike on Iran.

The Iranian media is publishing a video warning the United States, showing locations of American military bases across the Middle East that are within range of Iranian missiles.

In a voice message, someone from Iran tells how the Iranian regime is putting wounded protestors into body bags as if they were dead, while they can be heard moaning and suffering inside the bags.

The Times reports: "An attack on Iran could happen at any moment. The deployment of US forces in the Middle East will end in the next few hours." According to reports, the US has sent more military equipment to the region and CENTCOM has ordered its forces to be at the highest level of readiness. The USS Abraham Lincoln is also entering the Persian Gulf and, according to experts, the deactivation of its radar system indicates that it has entered operational status. The Wall Street Journal reports that Trump is pushing for decisive military options against Iran and even for a regime change.

Will Britain protect the base in Qatar during an attack on Iran? The British Ministry of Defence announced last night that the deployment of Typhoon aircraft in Qatar is a "defensive role".
