Israel facing dangerous shift in relations with Egypt

Israeli officials are concerned that Egypt is pulling away from its peace agreement with Israel and aligning with countries hostile to Jerusalem.

As per the peace treaty, Egypt can have one mechanized division and a tank brigade in the Sinai Peninsula, totaling 47 battalions and 300 tanks.

However, Egypt now has approximately 180 battalions in Sinai — nearly four times the treaty’s limit. Meanwhile, the IDF has gotten rid of six combat divisions, thousands of tanks, half of its artillery brigades, numerous infantry and engineering units, intelligence-gathering battalions, and thousands of career soldiers.

In addition, the shortening of mandatory service for men has significantly reduced the number of active-duty combat troops.

As a result, the IDF is no longer capable of deploying sufficient forces to the Egyptian border in times of routine or emergency.

While Egypt has not formally renounced the Camp David Accords, Cairo is effectively distancing itself from the PEACE treaty. With Israel.

Troops are also deployed far beyond the 45 miles limit from the Suez Canal, that was agreed upon in the peace treaty, with large amounts of forces stationed deep in to the Sinai, including El-Arish and areas near Rafah, right next to Gaza and other areas closer to Israel.

Additionally, satellite images and Egyptian videos suggest that Cairo could be preparing chemical and biological ☠️ weapons for use against Israel.

Many Israelis had hoped that with the new IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir's recent appointment, the military would rethink its strategy, so that Israel could confidently defend ALL its borders — from Syria and Turkey in the north, Hezbollah in Lebanon, Iranian-backed terror along the very porous Jordanian border , Egypt and Gaza in the South, & the West Bank.
(As you can see in the picture, the Egyptian side of the border with Gaza is much stronger, than the Gazan side, to prevent ANY entry into Egypt.)

Egypt's army has also GROWN by nearly 30%, defense sources estimate.

A major part of the threat lies in Israel’s poor intelligence coverage of developments in Egypt, with most of Israel’s top intelligence officers focused elsewhere, leaving Egypt & Sinai largely unmonitored.

Egypt has some BIG prophecies coming up too.

Under Camp David Accords, Multinational Force and Observers (MFO) NOT affiliated with the UN are in the Sinai. The U.S. is one of the participating nations. When I was there, eleven countries sent troops, plus the Norwegian Force Commander. Now fifteen countries send troops and the Force Commander is from Australia. There have been a few changes in the countries sending troops over the years. By far the best duty I had while I was in the Army :)

Egypt Claims It Destroyed Hamas Tunnels, But Smuggling Continues

“A decade ago, the Egyptians were aggressively dealing with the Hamas smuggling issue. It was part of their crackdown on the Muslim Brotherhood. Now, they are warning that if the Israelis do the same thing, it could cause a rupture in the most enduring Arab-Israeli peace agreement. Egypt’s behavior is highly irregular. Why Cairo would not welcome the opportunity to work with Israel to solve the border problem is not clear. But it appears the Sisi regime may be hiding something.” — Jonathan Schanzer, FDD Senior Vice President for Research

“Cairo is embarrassed, and its officials are trying to save face by issuing such defensive statements. There have always been corrupt members of the security establishment who benefited financially from tunnel building and weapon smuggling. It’s time for Egyptian authorities to arrest them and cooperate with Israel on ensuring a safer border. It’s a mutual national security interest for both Cairo and Jerusalem.” — Haisam Hassanein, FDD Adjunct Fellow
