Iranian officials to determine how to respond to Israel, Supreme Leader says

DUBAI, Oct 27 (Reuters) - Iranian officials should determine how best to demonstrate Iran's power to Israel after the Israeli attack on Iran two nights ago, Iran's official IRNA news agency cited the country's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as saying on Sunday.

"The evil committed by the Zionist regime (Israel) two nights ago should neither be downplayed nor exaggerated", IRNA cited Khamenei as saying.

Iran on Saturday played down Israel's overnight air attack against Iranian military targets, saying it caused only limited damage, as U.S. President Joe Biden called for a halt to escalation that has raised fears of an all-out conflagration in the Middle East.

Iran threatens to use more powerful warheads against Israel in next attack: report
Iranian officials have warned they are planning the country's next attack using more powerful warheads than any previously used weapons in strikes against Israel, despite U.S. warnings against a counter-attack on the country, according to reports.

Israel attacked Iran on Oct. 26, targeting critical military infrastructure. The attack from Israel came in response to a wave of about 200 missiles launched from Iran into Israel on Oct. 1.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Israel has refrained from striking oil and nuclear facilities in Iran, which are essential to its security. Israeli officials have said that logic could change.

Iranian and Arab diplomats reportedly said its conventional army could be involved in future attacks against Israel, after losing four soldiers and a civilian in Israel’s most recent attack. But using the conventional army does not necessarily mean troops would be deployed, but instead, it could mean the Islamic Revolutionary Guard that typically deals with Israeli security measures may not act alone.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian: "Our missile arsenal is designed for defense, not attack. We are dealing with an economic war, not a military war"

I really should have put this up in the Funny thread... :nukes:

That would be a bad idea for Iran to attempt a ground war. With Israel owning the skies, it would be a blood bath for Israel's enemies.

I remain skeptical about another direct Iran attack on Israel. Guess I'll believe it when I see it. I'm less skeptical now than I was a week or two ago, I just think the Iranian leaders would have to understand that if they do it their country will lose a tremendous amount that will take a very long time to recover from when Israel attacks them again... Unless Iran plans to use nuclear or biological weapons against Israel... Or aim 200 missiles on one target, an Israeli nuclear plant, with the idea that a few will probably get through...

Farzin Nadimi, a Senior Researcher with the Washington Institute, wrote on his X account, that Iran may launch its Retaliatory Strike against Israel on Tuesday Night during the U.S. Presidential Election. With the Attack likely to involve at least 400 Missiles aimed at Israeli Air Defense Bases and Sites, as well as Defense Manufacturing Industries around the City of Haifa. Iran is likely to utilize its “Khorramshahr-4” Medium-Range Ballistic Missiles, as well as Missiles launched by Iranian-Backed Groups in Iraq and possible Syria; in addition, the Iranian Army or Artesh is expected to participate, likely using its “Arash” Long-Range Attack Drones and Su-24MK “Fencer-D” Tactical Bombers, equipped with Stand-Off Weapons.

Iran warns of ‘strong and complex’ strike on Israel after US election but before inauguration – report
The Iranian regime is planning “a strong and complex” response against Israel’s wave of airstrikes on regime targets, Iranian and Arab officials told The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).

Following Iran’s massive ballistic missile assault on Israel at the start of October, Israel responded with a wave of precise strikes, hitting Iranian territory for the first time.

Iranian leadership at first appeared to downplay the strikes but have since vowed a “painful” response, with some reports suggesting it could come even before Tuesday’s U.S. elections and could be carried out from Iraqi territory.

However, the official added that the attack would probably come after Tuesday’s election to avoid influencing it in favor of Donald Trump, but before the inauguration in January.
