Thank you for posting this, Kem. When I came back to the Lord in 2005 and truly surrendered to Him, this song brought me to tears. It spoke of my own heart while encouraging me with God's Word. I wept every time I heard it. I would phone in to our local Christian radio station and ask for it every morning when I first woke up. I never ceased crying every morning. This song truly strengthened my relationship with my Savior.
The song that speaks from my heart and to my heart these days is I Then Shall Live by the Gaither Vocal Band. It is my constant prayer. - YouTube
I absolutely love "In Christ Alone" by Kristen and Keith Getty. Kristen sings it so beautifully! I listen to this song regularly.
I also love Michael W Smith singing it. This song gives the gospel message so clearly. Salvation is simply receiving the gift of salvation by faith alone in Christ Jesus.
I'm new here, I recognize a few UN's from elsewhere. So, Greetings.
In Christ Alone is a beautiful song which says the true meaning of salvation. Salvation is a free gift to those who accept the gift believe and receive. We cannot earn salvation. Jesus paid it all on the cross past, present, and future. Paid In Full. It Is Finished!
Sadly, a church that I attend omitted an important lyric verse. " til on that cross as Jesus died the wrath of God was satisfied" The church worship singers just hummed through this part and the lyrics of the verse above were blanked out on the screen. If they sing "In Christ Alone" again" and leave out the verse I am going to confront the worship leader and ask him to explain why they omitted the verse above.

I vaguely remember reading that the composers (Townend and Getty) refused to allow removal of that line in licensing, and at least one denomination wouldn't have it in their hymnal if the line remained.
Big enormous red flag. I'd have a discussion sooner rather than later with the church leaders about that little stunt. It was absolutely intentional, and legally may not be ok. It might also save you some grief (a little leaven...)
It was the liberal Presbyterian USA denomination that objected and would not allow it in their hymnals. Glad the Getty's stood their ground and left this vital verse in.
If I get a chance Sunday, I am going to politely ask the music leader/pastor why this verse was omitted from the song. There were one or two other verses omitted also.
I just got through emailing the worship/music leader of this church and asked him why this very important verse was omitted from "In Christ Alone." I will let you know what his response is.
This church is an independent, free grace alone faith alone BIble church. And it just does not add up why they would leave the verse out, "while on the cross as Jesus died, the wrath of God was satisfied."
No response from the church worship leader. I think it might be more timely to wait and see if they sing "In Christ Alone" in a future service and if they omit the verse again to bring the leader's attention to it after the service.
Thanks Kem, I have a couple favorite renditions of this beautiful song stored in my music files and I just added this one, never tire of listening to this song!
