NEW YORK - Hundreds of protesters gathered both inside and around Trump Tower in Midtown, with dozens arrested in a show of solidarity for Mahmoud Khalil.

Mahmoud Khalil, a U.S. resident, was arrested in New York Saturday and transferred to an immigration detention center in Louisiana.

The group claiming credit for the demonstration, "Jewish Voice for Peace", explained on Instagram that the event was in protest of the arrest of Mahmoud Khalil.

"The Trump administration thinks it can crush dissent and strip away constitutional rights. We know this playbook. We refuse to allow our neighbors to be abducted in our name," the post states. "As Jews, we are taking over the Trump Tower to register our mass refusal."

The only way to deal with crime, especially that with violence, threats, and intimidation in play, is to arrest and go to court. Lawful protesting is fine, but we all know that is not what's been in play the past 5 or more years.

I'm pretty sure a good number will turn out to be green card holders, student visas etc, and can be repatriated immediately, saving the taxpayer from jailing them. Those who are citizens and guilty of a crime, need to be punished, fined, jailed or whatever the law allows. Should dampen the enthusiasm of the protest movements.

Nixon was trying to end the war, - his election promise, but was being drawn in further and the student protest movement was getting out of hand. We had a lot of draft dodgers moving north onto Vancouver Island where I lived at that time (Quadra Island). I remember a lot of them arriving with drugs, weird clothes and hair and counter culture ideas. They stuck like glue and are part of why Vancouver Island is such a leftist lunatic paradise.
