How did the doctrine of the "Mystery" revealed to Paul get its conclusion that it's referring to the Rapture of the Church?

I think I understand what you're saying now and I agree it's not explicitly a rapture passage if taken on it's own. However I do think it is foundational to the teaching. At first read it sounded to me like you were disputing that 1 Corinthians 15:51 had any relevance to the teaching of the rapture.
As I read the above you state that this is what proceeds the rapture, I agree. Though I do tend look at it all as one event which may not be technically correct and there may or may not be a lengthy amount of time between the transformation and the translation from Earth to clouds.


This is what threw me off, it sounded here like you don't think it has any bearing on the teaching of 1 Thess 4:15. When I read
1 Cor 15:51 you may see it as an assumption to to correlate the two passages but I see the cross reference as accurate. We can see it differently though.

There has to be a connection between 1 Corinthians 15 and the rapture. Without the change from mortal to immortal the rapture could not happen because....

Paul explains the mystery of the change to glory that must take place before the rapture, a change in both the resurrected and those still alive, so there is a connection here.

My point has been that the mystery is not the rapture itself, but in what must take place before the rapture. In the context of 1 Corinthians 15, the mystery is described in the change to glory, which happens before the rapture takes place. So, there is a connection here, but sticking to my point, the rapture itself is not the mystery. The mystery is the change to glory and followed by the rapture

I gave my reason for change in view and used the bible alone to explain my change in view.
I will leave it here since I have found myself repeating myself and Im not trying to force a change in anyone elses view. I know where most stand on this because I did too, but I gave scripture reference to why I now believe the mystery is not the rapture and that whichever view one has does not change our blessed hope.

Agree. There is no point in our bodies transforming in the twinkling if there's no rapture. So I see it all as one thing.

As a plain reading I interpret it to say the mystery is we will not all die, for there is a catching away coming before all of us die. IOW, the whole event being a mystery. But that's just my personal plain reading of it.

We are going to be with Jesus forever and thats no mystery. We can hold on to this promised Hope regardless of how we read the context of the mystery in that passage.
I just shared why I changed my view on the mystery being the rapture itself, but my anchored belief in our blessed Hope will not change. I look forward to seeing you and all of my brothers and sisters in our eternal Home
