Hamas terror attack plots in Europe foiled

A plot to unearth a buried Hamas weapons cache in Germany and launch terror attacks against the European Jewish community has ended in seven arrests across the continent, Mossad says.

Seven people have been arrested, security services including Mossad stated on Thursday afternoon, with three in Germany, three in Denmark, and one in the Netherlands taken into custody.

The 57-year-old Rotterdam resident who was arrested in a terror investigation on Thursday morning has been a member of Hamas for years. Nazih R. and others allegedly wanted to attack Jewish institutions in Berlin, German justice reports.

The federal prosecutor reports that a total of four people have been arrested in the German investigation. In addition to Nazih R., three more men have also been arrested by the Berlin police. All four are said to have close ties to the military branch of Hamas.

Justice believes that the suspect helped Abdelhamid Al A. build up a stockpile of weapons in Berlin, which could be used to attack Jewish institutions in Europe. Nazih R., together with his accomplice Mohamed B., allegedly made several attempts to find those weapons in October. They were helped by Ibrahim El R., the fourth suspect.
