The disarming of Hamas, widely seen as an essential component of the Trump-mediated Gaza ceasefire, is no closer now than when large-scale fighting stopped last month.

Hamas, which is a U.S.-designated terrorist group, is, in fact, growing increasingly resistant to the terms of the ceasefire and hostage exchange deal that went into effect on Oct. 10. Ahead of the United Nations Security Council on Monday approving President Trump's peace plan – which includes an international stabilization force to police the ceasefire – Hamas rejected the idea of handing the rebuilding of Gaza and political control over to any foreign group.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has long maintained that the conflict cannot permanently end until Hamas disarms and relinquishes control of the Gaza Strip. Israel views an armed Hamas on its border as a threat, especially after the deadly Oct. 7, 2023, terrorist attack by the group that sparked the war.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is applauding the United Nations' approval of the Trump administration's blueprint to secure and govern Gaza, while Hamas rejects the plan as a foreign instrument of control.

The resolution that passed the UN Security Council on Monday authorises an international stabilisation force to provide security in war-devastated Gaza, approves a transitional authority called the Board of Peace to be overseen by President Donald Trump and envisions a possible future path to an independent Palestinian state.

"We believe that President Trump's plan will lead to peace and prosperity because it insists upon full demilitarisation, disarmament and the deradicalisation of Gaza," Netanyahu's office wrote on X on Tuesday.

The United States is prepared to give Israel the green light to resume its war in the Gaza Strip, with the goal of destroying the Hamas terror organization, should the Islamist group refuse calls for it to disarm, according to a report published by Israel Hayom Monday evening.

The comments were attributed to American Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz during deliberations in the UN Security Council ahead of Monday’s vote on the US-backed resolution granting a mandate to an international stabilization force for Gaza and formally adopting the White House’s 20-point Gaza peace plan.

Waltz emphasized that the Trump administration is committed to implementing the entire peace plan, and that the US is working with its allies to assemble a stabilization force to police Gaza and to oversee the area’s demilitarization.

Here's hoping that Trump will follow thru on this- if Hamas won't disarm, Israel will have a green light to carry on in Gaza.

But the past year hasn't proven this the case. Follow thru has been a serious issue.

At what point does Israel suffer enough economic harm from all this on again off again green light, then Hamas shows some signs of compliance, it's off again, then Hamas breaks it, and it's not on again yet because Qatar says they've got a deal with Hamas?

Every time Israel goes back in to retake areas, tunnels etc that they took before and were forced back out due to Hamas waving a white flag they pay costs that they just have to continue to pay over and over. Money, armaments, supplies, infrastructure, and worst of all Israeli lives.

Now that the UN is involved Hamas has a perpetual loop in it's cycle of waving a white flag, wait till Israel is forced out, then resume hostilities, rinse and repeat. Plus the UN isn't going to back away from the resolution to establish a Palestinian State now that resolution passed yesterday. The language is vague, but the enemies of Israel are many and the supporters of Israel are few.

I hope that Trump is serious, I hope that he has a fall back plan in place to actually force this on Hamas and I hope he and his team have learnt from their failures with Hezbollah earlier this year that has forced Israel back to bombing Southern Lebanon because the peacekeeping French failed to keep Hezbollah out from Southern Lebanon.

That failure is a repeated one from decades ago where the UN had a brokered deal to keep Hezbollah out of Southern Lebanon. The peace keepers were found actively helping Hezbollah hide their positions. But unfortunately the ceasefire brokered by Trump's family connection (father in law of his youngest daughter Tiffany) along with Trumps' usual team simply repeated the original ceasefire from 2006.

Lebanon is a repeat of 2006 and already failing again, and Gaza is a repeat of 2005.

At what point do we stop forcing Israel to pay the price for doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results while Israel pays in lives, economy, infrastructure etc.?

And to do this at the international UN level. The goal? To separate Hamas from support at the UN.

Trump got the entire UN to support his plan. To set the hook, Bibi raves about the plan and says Israel wholeheartedly accepts it. Hamas, naturally, rejects it, on two points. One, they do not want to give up their riches and power (I listened to the testimony of a Hamas leader's daughter who has become a Christian and she says power and money are what Hamas is all about; that they do not care one little bit for the Palestinians, and she gave some shocking examples.) Two, if Israel is for something Hamas will be against it.

Somebody asked me, what if Hamas accepts the deal? My response is that for Trump it's still a win: he brought peace to the middle east. And eventually Hannah will do something outrageous and Israel will be free to act at that time. But if Hamas rejects it, they have now separated themselves from the mainstream UN by rejecting their plan and this loses both the UN's open and its tacit support, opening the way for Israel to get the US go-ahead to take care of Hamas once and for all, without an outcry and consequent obstruction from the UN . Definitely a BIG win. (And we have a hint of that in the US ambassador to the UN,'s message as reported by Hol in post #3 above.)

So, I'm thinking, what if this was the plan all along? It certainly would make sense of Trump's seeming abandonment of Israel that had us all scratching ilour heads. What do y'all think.

Exactly what I have been thinking. Even Amir said this before the whole thing was set in motion knowing many countries would sign on, but Hamas would not agree.
With Hamas refusing to follow all the points in the plan, Israel will have the green light, and this time around, Hamas will cause their own destruction.

Amir did an interview today with a former IDF 3 star General, and the General has key insight into the history of Gaza, and what led to Oct 2023.

Trump is by far the best friend Israel has ever had in the White House.

I think some on this forum should not make assumptions, and present them as facts.
