GE Appliances Pulls Production Out of China and Brings Jobs Back to Kentucky

TCC

Well-known

GE Appliances announced more than 150 million dollars in new contracts for U.S. based suppliers as part of its decision to shift key washer and dryer production from China to its massive Appliance Park complex in Louisville, Kentucky.

The new contracts range from 330,000 dollars to 41 million dollars each and cover critical inputs for clothes care production. According to the company, the supplier categories include plastics, castings, steel, aluminum and other core materials required to build its new lineup of washer and dryer units.

GE Appliances said the move increases its domestic supplier spending by 3.3 percent.

This is wonderful news for jobs in America and wonderful news for the consumer who will be able to get a better product for their money.
This so happens in general to be so thematic of a Trump orbed economic blowback. Globalism was to drain the US dollar while making themselves rich. Send manufacturing out of the country for cheaper labor so we would not notice how bad the dollar depreciates when overly printed all over the place (along the lines of goods and products getting smaller and smaller in quantity for the same money hoping we just look the other way and not notice so much). Then import illegal aliens to take jobs in America (importing cheaper labor on top of exporting mfg. They were so certain Trump could not wave a magic wand (according to Obama) and reverse the process. But now instead of globalism giving China a free pass on climate change restraints (likely where the new economic hub was heading--coerced to head and likely be the head), all the mfg and investment is re-empowering America. The exact opposite of the globalist plan. And puts a magic wand squarely in the hands of Trump. He's kind of pulling it off...or so it looks. And it could not happen to a better class or rulership. Amen

Looking forward, I think it'll take much longer than 4 years to make America great again, and I don't believe we'll get another President who can resist and fight the globalists/deep staters the way Trump does, all the while seeming to enjoy the fight.

I built components for GE ovens for more than 15 years. It is hard to make a profit doing business with them because they dictate the suppliers of all raw materials, negotiate the prices you pay for those, and then tell you how much you can charge them for the product. Some components they source are sub standard due to lower prices, yet you are forced to buy those components, and then become responsible for the quality. It's a hard business. But the volume is high so economies of scale does allow a very small profit. It's really just trading dollars for cash flow.

I am glad for the jobs that will be coming back. I'm sure working there is better than being a supplier.
