Gaza peace plan moves onto next, difficult phase with recovery of final hostage

Israel has recovered the remains of the final hostage from Hamas, clearing the way for the next phase of the difficult peace process in Gaza.

(TNND) — Israel has recovered the remains of the final hostage from Hamas, clearing the way for the next phase of the difficult peace process in Gaza.

With the remains of police officer Ran Gvili now home, Israel said all 255 hostages have been rescued or returned. Israel said 168 of them were returned alive and 87 were dead.


“I think it's a very important moment of national healing,” said Gordon Gray, a former U.S. ambassador who now teaches at the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University.

The terms of the first phase of the Gaza peace plan, signed in October, have now been fulfilled.

All hostages are back, exchanged for aid and the release of Palestinian prisoners.

I suspect that Trump and Bibi expected that and that's why the deal was structured to have all hostages released first. Hamas obviously would like the war to end so they could recover, otherwise they wouldn't have released the hostages. What I think will happen is that Israel will be given a green light to finish the job, at least that's what I hope happens.

I keep wondering if it will play into Israel at peace, dwelling in security on the West Bank (as outlined in Ezek 38) and in a prosperous condition. Because Gaza isn't mentioned as part of the conditions in Ezek 38 but I'm thinking if this does go ahead, if it becomes the playground on the Med that Trump envisions, his golden prize, then perhaps it's part of how we get from here and now to the preconditions of Israel in Ezek 38.

It was called a covenant by US UN Amb Mike Waltz on Nov 17, 2025 just before the vote passed. Since May 31, 2024 - this same 3 phased plan that was made binding at the UNSC, has continued to build to a point where it will be reaching a comprehensive peace settlement aiming to ‘solve’ the two state delusion, Israel & Jerusalem’s borders, and quite possibly a new Temple Mount administration for coexistence and ‘Peace & Security’ for all.

When it allows Israel to dwell in peace and safety in unwalled villages on the Mountains of Israel which is an ancient name in the Bible and in Ezek 38 for the area we currently call the West Bank aka Judean hills and Samaria, then it gets truly significant.

This is an interesting step but not the one that I'm waiting for. I think the whole Gaza plan might play into the prosperity of Israel at the time of Ezek 38 or it could be other factors playing into the prosperity that tempts Russia and Iran.

I think the Gaza plan is interesting though, and the developments are worth watching.
