Foreign recruits are joining Canada's military

“Hire foreigners and lower the vetting requirements. Just stop to think about it,” Ezra said, cautioning new recruits aren't Canadian and “have not sworn an oath of loyalty to us.”

With a push to increase defence spending underway, the Canadian Armed Forces surpassing its recruitment goals for a second straight year should be good news.

Two years would be better. Keep the best jobs closed to them unless they voluntarily enlist for longer (4-6 years for most, as it once was; don't know about now).

Mandatory service also means an available, trained home guard, which can be armed quickly and supplement the Active and Reserve components, in the event of an invasion, or if a huge disaster that civilian authorities and the National Guard together can't handle.
