Again, I know there are some here who want to kill Americans.
Remember after 9/11 everyone to include me thought we would have more devastating terror attacks. It was non stop fear mongering by the left press. Only a few instances happened. Hundreds were stopped, and that was with older technology than what is used today.
Yes, some will become radicalized while here legally. Some are deranged wannabe terrorists who will act out as a lone wolf.
I could probably find a stat to support this, but Im guessing an American citizen is hundreds of times more likely to be a victim of everyday violent crime, than a victim of a terrorist.
Some fo get radicalized, but some have come here with intent and their ideology imbedded in their minds.
Indeed there is always "fear mongering".
But as believers "we have not been given s spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." 2 Timothy 1:7
While the fear mongering is thrown out there, its important that we use discernment because when there is truth to something that could bring us harm, there is no need to fear because we have an Almighty God Who is oir "ever present Help in times of trouble". Psalm 46:1
Remember the pandemic in 2020. It was a real threat to our health, that was potentially life threatening.
It was important to take precautions to keep from being exposed to it, but there was s lot of fear mongering that caused people to believe everything they heard and it even impacted the church causing division over disagreement on the understanding of Romans 13 and closed their churches, while others took the risk of being charged with not complying with the law, but it made no dense that churches were being forced to close their doors while bars and strip clubs were permitted yo remain open. Discernment.
"Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.
2 Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves."
"But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: “We ought to obey God rather than men"
Acts 5:29
The way the pandemic was framed caused many to make irrational choices because of fear, that later resulted in harm to millions all over the world.
Did the choices make people bad people? No. But because of the way it was framed fear caused many to do what they thought was a good thing but in many cases resulted in tragedy.
That is just one example of how we need to keep proper balance in our responsibility to discern what is real and not allow it to cause us to make irrational decisions, and to always stick to what the bible tells us over what men say.
We cant ignore what is real. But we also cant cause fear of a potential threat overwhelm us either. We must trust God at all times.
Analogy:
If we hear there is a wild fire burning out of control in our area, that is a real threat that should be taken serious. We should be prepared in case the fire reaches our homes be ause it could potentially be life threatening.
We may hear its burning towards our direction and being described as an "inferno".
We know wildfires are not "infernos", latin for Hell.
But the "fear mongering" choice of descriptive words can influence some to listen to the instructions from the fire department to leave the threatened area, otherwise some wouldn't leave and could result in tragedy.
The threat of terrorism is real. We know that.
We dont have to live in fear over it especially as believers we trust God.
All of us can be faced with unexpected death in one form or another. It doesnt have to come from terrorism. But because of the resurrection and as believers we know what happens after death as we immediately are in the presence of God
"Absent from the body is present with The Lord"
So we have no fear over death no matter how it happens
After this lengthy comment, and I apologize for it being you dont care for reading long posts,
I just want to sum it up in saying, its very important to not disregard a potentially real threat but at the same time not let the real threat consume us with fear, yet always be prepared for anything.
Just like when a famine was coming in the account in Genesis 47.
Famines are serious because they can result in many deaths. It was a real threat but God instructed Joseph to prepare for it so it wouldn't impact people with tragedy.
If Joseph had ignored God and not prepared and be ready for the famine, many would have died.
But using the wisdom and instruction God gave Joseph saved many lives when that famine came.
We dont have to be afraid.
A terrorist attack could occur, and it may not.
But certainly the threat is real and we would want to be prepared whether it occurs or not, but not take it to an unreasonable level either.
Precaution doesnt mean irrational
Being over zealous in precaution can only bring on unnecessary stress and take our mind off of God by being too focused on threats of any kind
"You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You."
Isaiah 26:3
Bottom line....
Trust God in all things.
Our God is bigger than any problem
There is no problem God cannot solve.
There is no threat God wont shield us from
Whenever anyone experiences fear setting in
Read Psalm 91 for assurance and confidence in God's protection.
Stay focused on God and the things of God
Stay focused on our Hope that cannot be found anywhere but through our Lord Jesus
