Disgraced Uvalde school officer faces teary-eyed families of victims as he pleads not guilty

A former police officer in Uvalde, Texas, who took part in the disastrous law enforcement response to the 2022 elementary school shooting that left 19 students dead pleaded not guilty Thursday as he faced the victims’ teary-eyed loved ones calling on him to “say you’re sorry” and “remember their names.”

Adrian Gonzales, 51, who was one of the first officers to respond to the shooting at Robb Elementary School, appeared in court to be arraigned on charges stemming from his failure to attempt to subdue the gunman.

Along with disgraced former Police Chief Pete Arredondo, Gonzales was indicted by a grand jury last month on felony charges including abandoning and endangering a child.

A lot police more should have been charged, including senior officers.

If he has a conscience he will be haunted day and night about being a coward, and leaving those children to be slaughtered that he was sworn to protect. Or he might not care, only God knows what is inside his heart. Either way, his cowardly actions will follow him for life.

Hopefully those felony charges carry prison time, so prison justice can be served.

Words cannot begin to express what I think and feel about chicken LE, who deliberately fail to serve and protect.
And chicken politicians (including the top LE officer in a jurisdiction), who refuse to make timely, proper decisions.

Everyone from the sworn LE, who refused to act, and kept others from acting, to the top politician involved, needs to be prosecuted, and if convicted, sentenced to max for each child, who was hurt or killed.

Put LE and politicians everywhere on notice that they need to serve and protect to the best of their ability. This is a fallen world, and sometimes imperfect, sinful people doing their best make mistakes, but this was blatant, incontrovertible COWARDICE AND DERELICTION OF DUTY.

This is one of the most egregious acts of cowardice, dereliction, and failure to disobey an immoral and illegal order I've ever seen, and one of the most horrific instances of government official malfeasance. But, there are acts of cowardice on the streets and corridors of government every day. LE using unnecessary and excessive force. Politicians, prosecutors, defense attorneys, and judges failing to protect everyone's civil rights. Government officials, NGO officials, etc. taking kickbacks and paying blackmail. Contractors, government, NGOs, etc. extorting, etc., etc., etc.
