Hundreds of concerned Canadians braved the freezing cold on Parliament Hill on March 12, 2026, to rally against Bill C-9, the deceptively titled “Combatting Hate Act”—legislation critics warn could criminalize biblical speech and dismantle long-standing protections for religious freedom.

Carney continues Trudeau’s war on free speech in Canada​

Mark Carney has picked up the censorship baton that Justin Trudeau first wielded, and the consequences for free speech are already visible. At Rebel News, we've seen firsthand how independent voices are targeted.

Tonight's guest Andrew Laughton and Rebel News were both banned from federal leadership debates in 2019: a battle we fought in court and miraculously won. But by 2021, the government had reverse engineered a new, more legally defensible ban. Yet against all odds, we prevailed again.

These battles illustrate a critical truth: independent media, civil liberties groups and the public must remain vigilant. We have consistently been at the pointy edge of the spear, challenging government overreach, holding politicians accountable, and reporting perspectives mainstream outlets ignore.

Whether it’s cabinet ministers banning conservative journalists from X, or the debates commission restricting questions from independent media, these attacks disproportionately hit those willing to push boundaries.

The federal government has tabled a motion to limit debate on the Combatting Hate Act, Bill C-9, which in its current form could expose individuals to criminal hate-speech charges simply for quoting sacred texts. This legislation represents a serious threat to the fundamental freedoms of expression and religion.

Canada is so close to becoming a totalitarian state. And the irony is that it is being done in the name of the protection of the individual: freedom, fairness, and equity are the cries of the government human rights fanatics.

How is this possible? Simply dispense with God's Word, and there you are. All things become possible when absolute truth is ruled impossible and situational truth takes its place.
 
It is disheartening to witness what is happening as hate towards Christians is growing, especially where Christianity has been accepted in Western Culture for a very long time, yet its increasingly evident there has been a turning point that is embracing rejection of Christianity and the Bible itself because it doesnt reflect today's culture that has become as described in Romans 1, and as Jesus described to be as the days of Noah and Lot and has resulted in hate and persecution towards Christians. This will become global where all the nations will not only hate Jews, but will hate Christians.

As difficult as it is to digest, it should not surprise us. We can see in scripture that Jesus foretold that His followers would go through persecution for His namesake, and that it would increase in the last days as we draw nearer to Jesus' return to take us to be with Him in Heaven.

How do we cope with this reality?
We pray. We pray not only for ourselves for God's Strength and Protection, but we pray for the entire Body of Believers to be diligent and to keep Trusting God and hold fast to our hope, remembering God is faithful.
