Camping World on Lawsuits: US Flag Won't Come Down

Tall Timbers

Imperfect but forgiven

Over the weekend, the CEO of Camping World announced that his company is not backing down from lawsuits to take down its supersized American flags flying high over its RV dealerships.

"This flag is not coming down. This is the third city in the last several years that tried to sue us to take the flag down. Threatening jail, a variety of other fines," Marcus Lemonis told Fox Business on Saturday.

"I wasn't born in this country. I emigrated from Beirut, Lebanon. Came here to Miami, Florida, and had an opportunity to live the American dream in this country," he said.

"I've put a lot of sweat and tears into building this business for my people, for the country. And it's my love letter to tell everybody how grateful I am this country provided me an opportunity where it didn't have to. To make money, to be a capitalist, to provide jobs in America."

Just to be clear, the flag, or what it represents is not the legal issue. Its the sheer size of the flag which is against some cities regulations.

The average camping world flag is 40 feet by 80 feet, 3200 square feet, roughly the size of a basketball court.

We have a Camping World 10 miles from our house and seeing that huge flag is motivating.

That surprises me because I thought I'd read how extremely liberal that company is.
Yes they are, which goes against their customer base. Most RV owners are conservative. At the campground we regularly stay at there are always American and Trump flags flying, including ours. Never seen a Biden, Harris, or any other liberal flag there. And remember this is New Jersey we're talking about.

I support their right to fly the flag but when their CEO said they don't want any business from Trump supporters, we happily stayed away. Yesterday we just bought a new travel trailer. Camping World had one we wanted but between the CEO's statement and their shady business practices, we looked elsewhere.

That was a quote associated with a MEME that was circulated years ago, but was not actually what he said.

I have yet to meet a liberal at any RV campground. Im sure there are some who RV, but likely keep quiet in RV land.

Im not a fan of Camping World, as they are over priced.

I've also heard horror stories about their (lack of) service departments and the horrible work they do. I prefer family and independently owned RV dealers as opposed to corporate ones. The same goes with campgrounds.

I looked up what the CEO actually said. It's partially false and partially true. He did say that but it was taken out of context. He said that in response to the media misquoting President Trump and the "fine people on both sides" comment. But I still won't buy an RV there for all the other reasons.

Agree, they are horrible at service, and a shady reputation for selling new RVs.
