Rose's grandson Joseph just messaged her. He is very upset with the notice he received from the school district he works for as a teacher assistant. All school staff in the school district received notice that they MUST go through mandatory training on defying federal law enforcement, in particular ICE and how to use California laws to defy federal law enforcement with regards to immigration.
All school staff must mandatory train on resisting cooperation with ICE and immigration officers when they go on school grounds for the purpose of obtaining information or school records or giving names of any immigrant student enrolled in school and "protect those students from bullying from ICE".
Joseph says a lot of teachers are upset about these policies but if they refuse to defy federal law enforcement and do not abide by California laws, they will face dismissal from employment with the school district. Yet they're in a catch 22, because it they don't cooperate with federal law officers and defy orders from them, school staff will be in legal trouble with federal law.
Joseph told Rose that he is upset too, but will obey God and not men when it comes to abiding by the law.

Incidentally, this policy goes with the new California law recently signed by Governor Newson that gives authority for ANYONE to pick up a child from school if ICE goes there to look for illegal immigrant children. This new law allows anyone to claim they have been given permission by parents to pick up the child and leave with that child without having to show ANY legal document or identification.
All that person has to do is say parents gave permission and give the child's name and that child is handed to them with no proof needed of who they are nor required to present any form of proof of identity. Joseph points out that this law encourages abduction and child trafficking. Yet the state claims it will protect illegal immigrant children from bullying from ICE.
