Starmer confirms military build-up in Middle East before Iran launches a new barrage of overnight strikes and Israel targets military facilities in Tehran
Britain is moving combat jets and other military aircraft to the Middle East after Iran threatened to strike UK military bases in the region and launched a new wave of overnight missile strikes on Israel.
Sir Keir Starmer confirmed the military build-up on Saturday, hours before explosions were reported near Tel Aviv and in the Galilee region. Several people, including a ten-year-old boy, were killed and more than 100 were injured, according to Magen David Adom, the emergency service.
Israel’s military said it had struck targets linked to Iran’s nuclear weapons project and the headquarters of the defence ministry in Tehran.
