Ghoti Ichthus
Genesis 18:32, 2 Chronicles 7:14, Acts 5:29
Recently, one of the Bible passages for the sermon at Wednesday church was from Exodus 2. I couldn't help but notice that Moses being saved in the basket in the Nile was illustrative of the Rapture (at least to me).
I was in @Kaatje thread about Rapture verses and while adding this to the thread, I realized that the KJV uses the word ARK for the basket.
When I went to both Exodus 2 and Genesis 7, I discovered the word ARK in both passages has the same Strong's number H8392.
Strong's Concordance entry (e-Sword):
H8392
תֵּבָה
têbâh
tay-baw'
Perhaps of foreign derivation; a box: - ark.
I was kind of hoping for more significance about what an ark is, but, alas
Both arks were waterproofed with pitch, but the Strong's number is different in Genesis 6:14 (H3724) than it is in Exodus 2 (H2203)
The word in Genesis points to Jesus' Atonement and propitiation for sin and our Baptism into His death.
The word in Exodus indicates a more temporary state of affairs, perhaps pointing toward the Law as temporary until fulfilled by Jesus.
Strong's Concordance entries (e-Sword):
H3724
כֹּפֶר
kôpher
ko'-fer
From H3722; properly a cover, that is, (literally) a village (as covered in); (specifically) bitumen (as used for coating), and the henna plant (as used for dyeing); figuratively a redemption price: - bribe, camphire, pitch, ransom, satisfaction, sum of money, village.
H2203
זֶפֶת
zepheth
zeh'-feth
From an unused root (meaning to liquify); asphalt (from its tendency to soften in the sun): - pitch.
