All SNAP recipients must requalify

I agree with President Trump, all those who need it should have it, but those able to work should do so. I would imagine a federal judge will find some reason to halt the effort, but with the fraud identified, maybe it be allowed.

I'm old enough to remember a time when almost everyone worked. Many moms stayed home with kids, but the men and many women worked daily. The marriage rate was much higher because it took a father and a mother to raise a family. The government became the "father/provider" through food stamps/SNAP and the single parent household was born.

The secretary said Thursday that 186,000 “deceased men and women and children” are “receiving a check” through SNAP, citing data from 29 states that complied with USDA’s request for information.

Federal officials and GOP lawmakers have been determined to show they’re taking wasteful spending seriously after months of work to reduce spending through DOGE. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act, signed into law in July, implemented a $186 billion slash to SNAP spending and included new work requirements and other restrictions on who receives benefits — the biggest overhaul of the food aid program to date.

“People keep talking about SNAP. But SNAP is supposed to be if you’re down and out,” Trump said Monday on Fox News. “The number is many times what it should be.”

“It really puts the country in jeopardy. People that need it have to get it. I’m all for it,” Trump added. “But people who are able-bodied can do a job — they leave their job because they figure they can pick this up, it’s easier. That’s not the purpose of it.”

Sadly, some people, who need the help, primarily elderly, and especially elderly, who are have become widow(er)s, can't qualify due to "making too much." Federal poverty guidelines don't take into account it takes the same amount of $ for shelter, and almost the same amount of $ for utilities, for one person vs two

In some places, only those, who qualify for SNAP or certain other programs, can obtain food pantry/similar assistance.

For some elderly, who are just over the line and/or have higher medical expenses, then it comes down to food or medication/similar or heat/AC or moving in with family or unrelated other elderly or etc.

What is going to happen when healthy people who are able to work can no longer hold jobs because AI has eliminated all the jobs that provide income.? That is the goal that is set. Then what?

I do think it is a good idea to make sure that EVERY person on SNAP (or any other taxpayer-funded program) is indeed eligible. Cutting waste by eliminating abuse is always a good idea. It not only helps the taxpayer but the recipients as well when the only people receiving help are the ones who truly need it.

Then TPTB set Universal Basic Income (UBI) and give the same amount to everyone, or depending on his or her value to society. Maybe also dependent upon family size, like the Federal poverty guidelines.
UBI means all are poor and dependent on the government.

Who can and cannot supplement his or her UBI with work (including government positions) could easily become controlled based on socio-economic status, ownership of critical facilities/businesses, politics, social engineering, social credit score, religion, payment of jizya, etc., etc., etc.

If government income is derived from tariffs instead of income taxes, then citizens residents serfs (have-nots) are truly enslaved and dependent on government whim and not withholding money for itself at the expense of the people.

Yet another step toward MOB.

Depending on how long The Lord tarries, much of this may occur before so I'm seeking The Lord's direction on work and residence.
