All 242 people on board Air India plane have died

Almost Heaven

Well-known
An Air India passenger plane bound for London with more than 240 people on board crashed Thursday in India’s northwestern city of Ahmedabad, the airline said.

Visuals on local television channels showed smoke billowing from the crash site in what appeared to be a populated area near the airport in Ahmedabad, a city with a population of more than 5 million.

Sad! I looked up that city and it's province (Gujarat), and it's mostly Hindu at 81.5 with Muslims at 13.5 and Sikh's at 0.24%. I always check about the Sikh connection as well as the Muslims as these 2 groups are well known for terror. So far that isn't showing up in the news feeds. Probably just mechanical failure or some kind of human error.

HOWEVER India is attending the G7 meetings which is here in Canada June 15-17. They aren't part of the G7 but our PM invited India to participate. That could upset Pakistan (Muslims) or the Sikh's. Locally there has been some serious pushback to Carney inviting India from the Sikh population which is largest here in BC.

So this might be related or not.

It’s said the plane crashed in a populated area of the city - with pictures of the tail of the plane in a building. Yet, there have been no reports of death or injuries of those on the ground........ has anyone heard of any reports on that?

There was something going on with the flaps and landing gear which could be seen in the video. The flaps were not up like they were supposed to be and the landing gear was still down.
I have had nightmares just like this where the plane takes off and is climbing and suddenly drops. Have had many plane nightmares in my life.

The best guess I've heard from experienced big jet pilots is that it is possible the (new?) first officer inadvertently pulled the flap lever after the aircraft left the ground rather than the landing gear lever. The pilot who is controlling the attitude of the aircraft and is concentrating on what is happening outside the aircraft would not have noticed and would have suddenly been confused by the plane's behavior...specifically the lost of lift despite the engines being at full power. You can clearly see by the increasing angle of attack that he was trying to climb the plane more and more as it sank toward the ground.

Also, I read that the building it crashed into was housing foe a doctor's college and there were at least five casualties.
However, it seems that information has not seemed all that important to the news media.

That's something that has always bugged me -- regarding all the small plane crashes in the US -- anyone can just be flying over your home and crash into it. :ohno:

Happened to run across this on Yahoo News:

Vishwaskumar Ramesh, the only survivor of the Air India plane crash headed to the United Kingdom from Ahmedabad, India, that left 241 other passengers and crew dead, along with five more on the ground, said he "thought I would die" as he recovers in the hospital a day after the tragedy.

"Everything happened in front of my eyes. I thought I would die," Ramesh told NDTV in an exclusive interview on Friday. "The side where I was seated fell into the ground floor of the building. There was some space. When the door broke, I saw that space and I just jumped out."

"The door must've broken on impact," Ramesh continued. "There was a wall on the opposite side, but near me, it was open. I ran. I don't know how. I don't know how I came out of it alive. For a while, I thought I was about to die. But when I opened my eyes, I saw I was alive, and I opened my seat belt and got out of there. The air hostess … died before my eyes."

That’s insane! Talk about the thing of nightmares. I would probably think of those images of people dying for the rest of my life. Wow. I pray he sees God’s mercy in his life.
