A pre-emptive strike on Russia by NATO?

dwb

Well-known
I don't know what to think about this.

The most senior military officer in NATO has spoken of the utility of “pre-emptive strike” as a “defensive action” because of the pressure he predicts there will be on the alliance being able to show credible deterrence in the future.

Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, who replaced Admiral Rob Bauer as the chair of of the NATO military committee earlier this year has spoken of the effectiveness demonstrated by enhanced, active deterrence against Russia by the alliance this year and implicitly called for consideration to be given to going further.

In remarks reported to have been made to London’s globalist-orientated financial broadsheet The Financial Times, former Harrier pilot and warship commander Admiral Dragone specifically cited the infrastructure sabotage operations of Russia’s ‘dark fleet’ of oil tankers against European states in 2023 and 2024, which evaporated after NATO’s Operation Baltic Sentry was launched. As reported in 2024, commercial vessels associated with Russia and China frequently severed underwater power and data cables by dragging their anchors on the sea floor, an act that could be explained away as an innocent mistake on an individual basis and yet which happened with astonishing regularity for over a year.

I agree, Russia has been barking all this time that they are ready to dial it up to 100 if NATO steps in so it would be curious to see whether Russia would back up their threats

I don't pay much attention to NATO right now, but Russia is no threat at present. They seem to want the Ukraine deal that Trump wants. And they are nearly bankrupt. Putin's political future is hanging by a thread and the old KGB is firmly in control in the background.

This sounds more like NATO sabre rattling to ensure the EU standing army is funded and in place. Keep the EU states in line with that goal.

Time to Prepare For World War-Size Conflict With Russia, Warns NATO

If NATO members fail to “stop a war before it starts” by successfully deterring Russia from trying its hand in Europe, the Atlantic, and the Arctic it will be a conflict on the scale of the First and Second World Wars, the Secretary General warns.

“The dark forces of oppression are on the march again”, said NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in a speech in Berlin on Thursday, as he implied a coming world war is in the offing if the alliance fails to deter Russia from empire-building. Expressing the importance of continuing to support Ukraine, Rutte said it was better to defeat Russia and have something of a buffer zone, rather than directly meet Russia along the NATO border in central Europe.

Explaining the purpose of the address is to explain “what we must do to stop a war before it starts”, Rutte named Russia as the main threat and China as its main backer, and called for NATO nations to enhance their preparations for war, including pushing their industrial bases to produce more munitions.

It's good that Europe is trying to take some responsibility for their own defense, but I don't trust socialists with their militaries.

This is more of an excuse to create and arm a standing army for Europe, which will be ready for the end time scenario whenever that arrives. The enemy is being allowed to move in that direction.

Like decorating for Christmas. Only the enemy doesn't know how much time is left. Just that the time is getting closer.
