I was a young hippie when I got saved during the βJesus Movementβ of the late 60βs and 70βs. We were known for being βsold out to Jesusβ, βon fireβ for Christ, challenging and shaking up the institutional church. A lot of good came out of that revival movement. But I mistakenly believed that to really make my life count for the kingdom of God, I had to be radical, and do something extraordinary.
But I have learned that the Word of God calls us to ordinary faithfulness.
Ordinary does not mean π’π±π’π΅π©π¦π΅πͺπ€ or ππ’π»πΊ or π΄π΅π’π¨π―π’π―π΅. It means that in everyday life, you love and serve your spouse and the children God has given you. You work hard and honestly for a living. You change diapers, pay bills, mow the lawn, feed the cat, cook dinner, read to the kids, take out the garbage, and care for your aging parents. (1 Timothy 5:4; 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12)
Certainly some of Godβs children are called by Him to do something far-reaching and π¦πΉπ΅π³π’-ordinaryβ¦ but thatβs not most of us. And thatβs okay.

For all believers who live ordinary, unnoticed, but faithful livesβ¦ you are every bit Godβs workmanship as you walk in the good works God has prepared for you. You are His hands and feet. His light is shining through you.
