‘Outright Antisemitism’: Israel Forced To Opt Out After UN Security Council Schedules Critical Gaza Meeting On Rosh Hashanah

In another blatant display of bias against the Jewish State, Israel’s delegation to the United Nations was forced to opt out of attending an upcoming Security Council meeting on Gaza, due to the UN’s decision to schedule the critical meeting on the Jewish feast of Rosh Hashanah.

Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, in a letter to the Security Council President, announced that Israel would not be present and emphasized that the Jewish State’s requests to reschedule were ignored.

“Despite Israel’s request to the Presidency and Council members to reschedule, the meeting remains set for that date — one of the most significant in the Jewish calendar, marking the start of the High Holy Days,” Danon wrote. “It’s unfortunate that the Security Council will meet without Israel.”

According to the Washington Free Beacon, the scheduling by the UN is not only deliberate but a direct result of pressure from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, who were “aggressive in pushing for the Gaza meeting to fall within Rosh Hashanah.” Multiple diplomats are describing the move as “outright anti-Semitism.”

“The United Nations has long had an anti-Israel problem—if not actual outright anti-Semitism—but purposely hosting such a meeting on one of the holiest days for the Jewish community is them going out of their way to exclude Jews who observe Rosh Hashanah and serves as a statement against the world’s only Jewish state,” a former US diplomat was quoted by the Free Beacon as saying. “When leaders go out of their way to exclude or single out one religious minority, that’s discrimination—and when it’s the Jewish faith that’s anti-Semitism.”

The Rosh Hashanah scheduled Security Council meeting comes as a growing list of nations—including Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Australia—have announced their recognition of a “Palestinian State,” a move which Israel calls “a prize for Hamas and a reward for terrorism.”

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar on Sunday scolded the United Nations and world leaders involved in the decision, powerfully stating that they “will be remembered with eternal shame” for their “moral severity and diplomatic error.”

Ambassador Danny Danon called the recognition of Palestine by the nations “empty declarations that ignore reality.”

Erick Stakelbeck, host of The Watchman Newscast, highlighted the prophetic implications of what we see unfolding at the United Nations, specifically as it relates to Zechariah 12:3.

“It’s a pretty explosive situation, and I believe it has major prophetic implications,” Stakelbeck stated. “I think of the book of Zechariah 12, which talks about Jerusalem. These Western nations want to see Jerusalem as the centerpiece of a Palestinian state. Zechariah 12 talks about Jerusalem becoming a burdensome stone that the entire world will come against Jerusalem in the days to come—and all of them will be ‘cut to pieces’ because they are trying to divide God’s land.”

“They covet God’s one and only eternal city, Jerusalem,” he continued. “Ultimately, it’s not going to work, but expect the pressure to increase.”
