I think this is a good example of the age we live in. Until DOGE, we did not know this for 2 years. For sure there is a huge iceberg hidden under the water of things I am sure is far more shocking. This is probably not even an Hors d'oeuvre, but only the little napkin given on which to serve the Hors d'oeuvre.
As controversial as DOGE can seem perhaps, I believe this is a good time in history to sharpen our Overton window. Mine has been radically challenged. while evangelical spin can tend to be all over the map on what DOGE is (deception, a hostile take over, a plot to spy on America, or a massive rich boy buy up of America), Christians have the most sober spirit on the planet do see value in it. And kind of see too that maybe it is somewhat an agency cutting waste. But it can't just be that...lol. In a way, I'd agree.
What it appears to me to be is "r e v e l a t I o n." We get to see just how evil the age we live in is. We get the luxury of disclosure. We get the spoils of insight. On one hand, we will be shocked by what comes out of that camp. We know the world is evil. But seeing it still stings. So an Overton window is the amount of data we can accept socially in our minds as what is socio-politically going on around us. If something is too extreme that does not fit that, it would likely be rejected. I believe we are in the age of having our overton window expanded significantly.
We can see what is revealed to us, those new evils we knew existed but just have not seen literally. We can see what is revealed to us and just focus on how that agrees with the word of God that the last days would be evil. Amen. We could stop there. We could just collect all the "evil" data and affirm in our hearts how true the word is. And maybe for some that is as far as they should go. As God as their creator, for some to go farther than that might be out of place with how that person is wired. Or how the gifts of the spirit in them are aligned for His service. Not needing to go outside certain parameters. In service to His majesty amen.
But I think in general though, the combination for the masses would seem to be two fold here:
- You have just seen more than before
- Revealing is occuring for you
I guess we could ask, so how long has this sort of thing been going on? All my life? Has it been as evil as it was when I was born? Or more so now? Well most of us here know we did not have tranny librarians reading us children's stories when we were growing up. So there's that. So yeah, for sure it is getting more evil for sure. But what I tend to be more focused on (almost to the exclusion or blind spot of the evil) is how amazing God is to lovingly "let us in" on just how evil things are. Not to rub it in our faces. But to make us aware.
I consider the magnitude of this because it has a lot to do with His character. Adam and Eve were kicked out of the garden not for "disobeying God so much." Although, yes. But because they believed something false about His character. The entire anatomy of sinful fallen reality reduces to--we did not think God was as good as He is. So that is one reason I am thrilled to see the character of God today. Not to undo being kicked out of the garden. For Christ has done that work. But to see the heart of the God that fixed it, that did not receive us in the garden, receives us today in living color. And what that looks like daily is "revealing" things to us. Maybe not directly. But robustly indirectly.
So i guess the way I would look at it is like DOGE for some seems to be a trap. I would say that America has been so syphoned by globalism that DOGE is just showing one dimensional stick figures of how bad it is at this point. Sometimes it is hard to trust man or what governments do in how we might with toward God being sovereign over it all. But we are kind of at a fork in the road it would seem. Is the sky falling? Or is it raining "r e v e a l?" I tend to go with the latter because we have a biblical example of what happened in the garden. Yes, I would go as far as to say that to see what is going on as deception is similar to the garden experience. Not because government should be trusted. Or that we necessarily should. But just that as we see the signs of our age, it would be of good faith to be aware how much more God is involved in our age than perhaps we ever could be aware.
I guess this is my main concern with how evangelicalism is now tending to lean toward seeing things as Hagelian Dialectic. To me, this is similar to believing the serpent in the garden about the charactor of God. Feeling enlightened ourselves of what is really going on, against a greater backdrop of the sovereignty of God over all principalities. Today we are often told trust God not MAGA or government. Or a bright future for America. When I hear that, I understand. We just came off Trump 45 where he was practically worshipped by the church. So it is an understandable concern. But if God mightily uses America and Trump it would probably be sober to recognize that. In the simplicity of that, it removes quite a plethora of theory. It could just stand kind of as is, I believe.

Well I say that not to just bantar. I have had the very hard lesson in life to constantly having my eyes opened to just how much damage i've done to my life enforcing my own schematic by which to "protect" myself from this or that. Only to latter find out I was kind of in my own Truman derived Charlie Brown movie. While all the while, the reality was God in my garden being who He is (while I fashion mission after mission of how to protect myself from the enemy all over the place). This was complete shadow boxing (thinking I was in a boxing match while all the while I was on stage at a ballet). Feeling pretty ridiculous after. And losing a fortune in fanance and family. That is kind of the reason I believe seeing the constant charactor of God beyond our circumstantial views today are of higher order. That is why I would see "revealing" more than evil or deception. Because making deception my aim, did not pay very well. And as we approach a closing chapter of sorts, finishing well would probably be anything but deception. Regardless how messed up the world, politics, the church etc may be, His character today stands just as it did in the garden. Blessings.
