Willing to pay $175,000 for a life-size robot friend that remembers everything about you?

In a world where loneliness is becoming increasingly prevalent, researchers have taken a bold step forward by introducing Melody, a life-sized artificial intelligence robot designed to combat this growing epidemic.

However, Melody is not just another gadget; she represents a significant move toward creating robots that closely resemble humans in both appearance and interaction.

The vision behind Melody

Realbotix, the innovative tech firm responsible for Melody's creation, aims to produce robots that are not only visually indistinguishable from humans but also capable of meaningful interactions.

I would love a robot that would cook and clean. That would be AMAZING! All the time saved would be wonderful to be spent with the kids, going outside, reading more. Those are my fantasies with robots.

iRobot, Roomba, etc. for floors (NOT stairs

dishwasher for dishes

washer and dryer for clothes (far better than a laundry rock with unfriendly, sneaky, carnivores lurking under the water, or hanging clean, wet clothes in a tree with a wasp nest or red ants)

:)

:thankyou: GOD!!! :thankyou:
  in Jesus' Name :amen: :amen:

I'd love to have one that could keep the house spic and span but I'd still want to do the cooking. Robot is welcome to clean up the mess I leave, though. I returned an irobot I'd purchased as it seemed to have problems of a psychiatric nature. When if found an obstacle, instead of correcting its path it would continuously ram into it.

At least it wasn't despondent and suicidal like the one in a thread awhile back :big grin; *maisey*

In DEI language, that iRobot must have identified as a Monster Truck,
but the reality was that it simply wasn't qualified or able to drive over said obstacles, and no amount of opportunity, training, or accommodation (short of removing all obstacles and replacing with paper having drawings simulating the obstacles taped flat on the floor) would make it possible *maisey*

So it was a DEI iRobot?

I wouldn't mind a furry little robot doggo.
With or without the pee and poo function? *maisey*

The NYPD’s Robot Dog Was a Really Bad Idea: Here’s What Went Wrong

Design, context and timing influence whether humans embrace a robot or reject it

Apparently this robot dog is amazing. My sister was looking into it once her dogs pass away.

Did it come from a puppy mill factory? Or was it responsibly bred? Papers? *maisey*

I wonder if it'll be yet another way for AI to spy/rat-out owners? Wonder if one does something to it that would be akin to animal abuse if the AI will somehow flag the person to never buy/own another real animal? Wonder if it misbehaves if it's unhappy with the humans? Wonder if it'll attack a burglar, bark/growl at said burglar, or call 911? Wonder if it'll get along with other (real and robotic) pets? Wonder if LE or TPTB can shut it down remotely to punish the people? Wonder if it's hackable?

I don't think I like it. But then, I don't like, trust, or have Alexa, etc.

I don't trust Alexa or any of those smart devices apart from my phone. Even that I'm leary of but see as a necessity at this point. I just thought you'd like to see they have robo companion dogs already. I watched videos where they apparently play well with dogs, but it's like $3k for it. I think it is connected to a cloud which is concerning for privacy. I was shocked to see it existed and that people actually saw it as their actual pets.
