What has happened with the Drudge Report?

I remember my dad talking about Drudge a long time ago, as he's a lifelong conservative. He'd always have Rush or someone similar on in the Jeep. He'd be disappointed at the news. That said, it's always so unfortunate when you like or love something and that something just morphs into an entirely different and betraying entity.

I read every article in the magazine "Outside" for years. Then on one issue they decided to embrace liberal lies. It was ruined overnight. I still miss the old Outside because they had some incredibly gifted writers. The Wall Street Journal was an incredible daily. Even my wife looked through it. It's demise was a little slower.

So what did you replace Drudge with? My news lineup was Fox, Drudge, Breitbart, Harbingers, Israel365 and Koenigs World News. Now that Drudge is headed to the DL (distrusted list), got any ideas who to bring in?
I go to Patriot Post, Not the Bee, the various media associated with Twitchy, and Rapture Ready. It's a conservative echo chamber, but if I need more info I can do a search on the specific topic with the current date to cross reference. It takes discernment (esp. RR news- they've got some questionable sources) but what's important is that the others usually cull citizen responses off of X, which is fairly uncensored at the moment. I'm not above watching the news from other countries in the languages I can more or less understand, because other countries news agencies are usually more thorough in reporting important news outside the US.

My dad is so disheartened by society. I went out to Wendy's with him the other day after an appointment, and he couldn't relax at all. He was talking about societal downfall and this and that. He mentioned how he has had to hush the news more than he used to. He mentioned Mr. Limbaugh's passing and the lack of solid radio options. Like he was really into this stuff in another life. He'd volunteer for campaigns and go door to door and stuff. He was a true believer.

He mentioned Mr. Limbaugh's passing and the lack of solid radio options.
There was something very surreal about the timing of Rush's illness and quick death.
Because he became so sick, he basically went radio silent in the middle of 2020, the heart of covid, and then died as Trump officially left the White House.
It was almost like his death symbolized a "Goodbye" to the old America.

I have read at least 2 people witness to Rush solidly trusting in Jesus for his salvation. 🩷

Hm, that does sound quite interesting, sad as it is. I really only know of Mr. Limbaugh through dad. I was helping him build his house and when he'd pick me up and we'd go to and fro to hardware and lumber stores, and Rush would often be on. I never listened to him on my own. I'm really glad he is saved, though. That's always great news!

I listened to Rush occasionally, I always loved how he said, “With talent on loan from God.” I’m not much on radio, but I did love the O’Reilly Factor. I knew when Fox News canned him they were trending to the left. Tucker Carlson was good too, before he went off the rails. Once in awhile I’ll watch Hannity.

I liked listening to Michael Savage. I suspect he's a narcissist and would often turn the radio off for a while when he got too big for his britches. What I liked was when he'd talk about being in a restaurant and could talk about it in such a way that you wish you were there with him enjoying the peaceful moment... and other similar moments where he'd be describing personal experiences that had nothing to do with politics.

We used to read Drudge every day, but about a decade ago it started to change. No longer a conservative source. :tsk:
That's what I was thinking- about a decade back or so.

Rebel Media in Canada on YT - anti Trudeau but they do go abroad beyond Canada sometimes. They were backing Trump's point about the Haitians killing other people's pets for voodoo and went to the States to do a story on that.

Sky News out of Australia enjoys scoring points off Biden and Harris- one of their people is formerly from Iran and she has a special axe to grind against Obama, Biden, Kerry and Harris. She's no fan of the Ayatollahs.

A lot of what's above has been my other sources.

I sometimes park my prejudice against Russian propaganda woven into Zero Hedge and read their stuff but with a weather eye out for the propaganda points. 90% of their stuff is good, it's the other bits that you need to watch out for so that one I'd read with a grain of salt.

It used to be pro-conservative but for the last several months, or longer, I'm seeing headlines that seem to promote Biden/Harris/Walz policies, trends, etc. Did the leadership change?
Drudge went off the rails a long time ago. I mainly stick to Townhall media sites and Gateway Pundit, which as WorkForPeanuts said is a conservative echo chamber, but you get stories you won't from MSM. Then I look at the Israeli news sites, watch.org, Harbingers, and I skim the RR News headlines each morning, mainly to see if Damascus is still here.

I like the Rebel News, Brandon Tatum, Stephen Gardner, ETBP with Brett Gillette, World Watch News to see with the kids, OMG media with James OKeefe, Matt Walsh and Michael Knowles from the Daily Wire (I just ignore when they talk about Catholicism), Andy Woods with his Friday Prophecy News Updates. I’ve heard The Epoch Times is good for online or a paper newspaper.

I watched some of those shows mentioned but I never missed Lou Dobbs. My favorite. Naturally, they got rid of him too. I'll check out the news sites mentioned.
RJS one of the ones I forgot is actually one of the best for a quick glance at American and then world news kind of like Drudge used to do but it comes as a newsletter format every morning by Rebekah Koffler and it's called Cut to the News.

Cut to the News – Sign up here this is where you sign up - George and I signed up years ago, long before C, when her husband a long time Washington DC news correspondent ran it. She took it on when he went on to do other stuff and she was kicked out of her CIA Russia job by Obama for being incompatible with the admin.

Everything is a clickable link with a brief headline and blurb like RR does it. But her sources are impeccable.

She is a Russian Jew who became an American and married with 2 kids. She's often on Fox to explain Russia. George would write back and forth every once in a while with her. She is truthful to a fault, and we love her.

I don't know why I forgot her, but i came on here because I look at her email just about every morning with coffee.

Heres a sample of today:

Trump urged use of troops to protect Capitol on Jan. 6 but was rebuffed . . . Then-President Donald Trump gave clear instructions to Pentagon brass days before the Jan. 6 riots to “do whatever it takes” to keep the U.S. Capitol safe, including deploying National Guard or active-duty troops, but top officials did not comply because of political concerns, according to transcripts of bombshell interviews conducted by the Defense Department's chief watchdog that shine new light on government disfunction ahead of the historic tragedy. Gen. Mark Milley, the former chairman of the Joints Chief of Staff, confirmed to the Pentagon inspector general three years ago that during a Jan. 3, 2021, Oval Office meeting Trump pre-approved the use of National Guard or active duty troops to keep peace in the nation’s capital on the day Congress was to certify the results of the 2020 election. So he both sought a takeover of the Capitol and sought to defend it? Can't be both.

Harris to visit the border . . . Vice President Kamala Harris is planning to visit the U.S.-Mexico border on Friday during a trip to Arizona, according to two people briefed on the preparations, as she seeks to counter former President Donald J. Trump’s advantage with voters on the issue of immigration. The trip is set to be her first visit to the southern border since President Biden dropped out of the race. Ms. Harris may give remarks about border issues during the visit. New York Times

At a campaign event in Pennsylvania Monday the Republican presidential nominee said, if he were elected, Deere would face tariffs of 200% if it sold made-in-Mexico equipment previously made in the U.S. Trump said that Deere is moving a majority of its production to the country, a point which the company disputed. The Illinois-based company in June said it would move production of some models of small and medium-size construction loaders to its plant in Mexico from Dubuque, Iowa. Wall Street Journal

Pressure grows on Trump to accept a second debate with Harris . . . The pressure is on former President Trump to debate Vice President Harris again now that she has accepted a CNN invite for an October match-up, with Republicans encouraging him to go up against her a second time. Republicans argue that Trump can have a better, more disciplined performance a second time. Strategists say the former president has nothing to lose by partaking in another debate, particularly after Harris’s performance did little to move the needle in a race largely seen as a dead heat. Jewish voters stick with Democrat Harris despite left’s growing hostility toward Israel . . . Jewish Americans have long represented a faithful Democratic voting bloc, and the progressive wing’s unabashed antagonism toward Israel hasn’t changed that.A Pew Research poll on the preferences of U.S. religious voters released this week found that 65% of Jewish respondents plan to vote for Vice President Kamala Harris, while 34% back former President Donald Trump in the Nov. 5 presidential election. Arizona Democratic Senate candidate announced engagement after getting married . . . Rep. Ruben Gallego (D., Ariz.) declared himself "the happiest man in the world" in February 2020 after his then-girlfriend, real estate lobbyist Sydney Barron, accepted his marriage proposal. "She said yes!! Thank you Sydney for being my forever!" Gallego wrote on social media on Feb. 15, 2020. In reality, though, records show that the two were already married. A Washington, D.C., marriage license indicates that Gallego and Barron tied the knot in December 2019 at the swanky National Gallery of Art. Washington Free Beacon

Marland Democratic Senate candidate took improper tax breaks . . . Since 2005, Angela Alsobrooks has avoided paying her fair share in taxes on two properties she owns by claiming various exemptions for which she wasn't eligible, CNN reported on Sunday. Alsobrooks has been registered to vote in Prince George's County, Md., since 1995, but that didn't stop her from shaving $14,000 from the property taxes on her home in northeast Washington, D.C., between 2005 and 2017 by improperly claiming an exemption meant only for primary residents of the district. Washington Free Beacon

Biden to deliver final UN address in shadow of foreign policy setbacks . . .Biden first addressed the U.N. as president in 2021, months after his chaotic withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan. In 2022, he spoke to the body after Russia invaded Ukraine. His remarks in 2023 came after China flew a surveillance balloon across the country, challenging America’s supremacy over its own skies. Now, in 2024, his appearance coincides with an escalation in violence in the Middle East. Washington Examiner

Zelensky calls Vance ‘too radical,’ suggests he study World War II . . . Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a new interview with The New Yorker that Ohio Sen. JD Vance (R), the Republican nominee for vice president, “is too radical.” In the interview, Zelensky said Vance’s “message seems to be that Ukraine must make a sacrifice.” “The idea that the world should end this war at Ukraine’s expense is unacceptable,” the Ukrainian president continued. Vance has previously raised doubt that the U.S. can continue providing military support to Ukraine. Vance has also pushed for engagement with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the past for “America’s interests.” The Hill

Vast Hezbollah arsenal awaits Israel if it invades . . . Israel launched devastating attacks on Hezbollah in recent days with airstrikes and remote-control explosions that put the Lebanese militant group on the defensive and demonstrated Israel’s vast superiority in intelligence gathering and technology. A ground war between the two, if it occurs, would likely be a different story. Hezbollah has kept in reserve a massive arsenal of rockets, drones and antitank missiles that it can deploy to counter Israeli advances. Wall Street Journal

It appears Israel is softening Hezbollah up as a prelude to an invasion.

Argentian scraps rental controls, and market thrives . . . For years, Argentina imposed one of the world’s strictest rent-control laws. It was meant to keep homes such as the stately belle epoque apartments of Buenos Aires affordable, but instead, officials here say, rents soared. Now, the country’s new president, Javier Milei, has scrapped the rental law, along with most government price controls, in a fiscal experiment that he is conducting to revive South America’s second-biggest economy. The result: The Argentine capital is undergoing a rental-market boom. Wall Street Jounral

Dockworker strike could upend economy and election . . . The International Longshoremen’s Association, which represents about 85,000 dock workers nationwide, is threatening to strike on October 1 if the union cannot reach an agreement with port ownership. A strike would shut down five of North America’s 10 busiest ports, 36 ports total along the East and Gulf Coasts, and cause massive supply chain issues — which, depending on how long the strike lasts, could impact consumers past Election Day and well into the holiday season.
