Washington proposes hostage release deal and end of Gaza offensive

Almost Heaven

Well-known
The United States has presented Israel and Hamas with a proposal for a comprehensive agreement designed to secure the release of all 48 hostages still held in Gaza and to establish an immediate ceasefire.

According to the plan, all hostages would be released on the first day of implementation. In exchange, the Israeli military would cancel “Operation Gideon’s Tanks II” and halt its planned ground advance into Gaza City.

However, the proposal does not call for a full withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip or an outright end to the conflict.

Instead, negotiations would begin under the ceasefire to outline terms for a longer-term cessation of hostilities and a post-war political framework.

Sources close to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu say Israel is taking U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal “very seriously.” At the same time, they expect Hamas to resist the terms, citing its rejection of similar arrangements in past mediation efforts.

The initiative comes as Israel prepares to escalate operations in northern Gaza and as international pressure mounts for a diplomatic solution to the ongoing war.

Hamas excuse in response to Trump's proposal: 'Cannot release all hostages in one day'

A day after the publication of U.S. President Donald Trump's new hostage deal proposal, which would see all 48 hostages released on the first day, Hamas sources claim that "it is impossible to release all living hostages and bodies in a single phase on the first day of the ceasefire." In an interview with Saudi newspaper "Asharq Al-Awsat," they noted they had also told mediators this, claiming that "there are hostages who were killed in places that require the IDF to stop firing, so that they can be extracted from under the rubble or from the places where they were buried."

Any excuse will do.

But it would be virtually impossible for Hamas to accept Trump's proposal.
It would show that they can rely on the word of one from the USA which they call the great satan.

And I guess Trump and Netanyahu are very much aware of that.
So maybe it is just the final nail in the coffin of Hamas. Green card for taking out every last one of them.

Well I think this provides beautiful "cover" for Israel as they continue to clean out Gaza! Hamas is shown for what they are. As long as they refuse to produce the hostages, Israel can continue.

Any excuse will do.

100%!

‘Can’t release them all’: Hamas raises issues with new Trump deal

Terror group cites obstacles with Trump’s ceasefire proposal, declaring it 'impossible' to release all 48 hostages on day one while insisting on Israeli withdrawal

Hamas sources highlighted ongoing efforts to resolve disputes and craft a comprehensive deal that meets all parties’ demands, particularly their call for a permanent end to the war. They said the plan guarantees an initial Israeli withdrawal to the agreed January lines, followed by phased pullbacks during U.S.-mediated talks to end the fighting — a process personally backed by Trump.

However, they criticized the proposal for not addressing IDF withdrawal from key routes like the Philadelphi Corridor along the Egypt-Gaza border or the reopening of the Rafah crossing for bidirectional movement. Hamas reiterated its openness to any agreement ensuring the war’s end, saying, “We are open to any deal that guarantees the war’s conclusion, by all possible means.”
