US Open to Giving Crimea to Russia in Peace Deal

According to Reuters – The United States is prepared to recognize Russian control over Crimea. This is part of a broader peace agreement the US has facilitating between Ukraine and Russia.

As far as its history goes – Crimea came under Russian control following the Treaty of Küçük Kaynarca in1774. Catherine the Great from Russia annexed the peninsula for Russia in 1783.

In 1954 the peninsula was transferred from the Russians to Ukraine.
In 1991 Crimea was once again made an autonomous republic within the Soviet Union. Then, as the Soviet Union collapsed in December 1991, Crimea was passed to the newly independent Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Zelensky says Crimea must be handed over to Ukraine in his mind’s imaginary peace deal.

Zelensky Publicly Rejected Trump’s Peace Plan, Preferring Push For Maximalist Total Victory Scenario

Even as talks progress and President Donald Trump says there is hope for a deal, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky made clear he rejects President Donald Trump’s proposal to recognise Russia’s occupation of Crimea as a price of peace, saying the Ukrainian constitution calls for nothing less than absolute victory.

This week, President Donald Trump said in interview with Time Magazine that one of the ultimate outcomes of the war will be that “Crimea will stay with Russia”, and later that a deal was close, with Ukraine and Russia needing now to meet in person in negotiations for the first time to “finish it off”.

Yet the rhetoric coming from Kyiv in recent days is far from complimentary about President Trump’s proposals. An American blueprint for peace in Ukraine was put before combatants this week and quickly rejected as politically impossible by Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky, who cited the national constitution as making anything but total victory impossible.

President Zelensky said of this position that he would accept only a total defeat of the Russian invasion, a peace on unobtainable terms: “Anything that contradicts our values or our Constitution cannot be included in any agreements”.

He said, further on Friday: “Our position is unchanged: only the Ukrainian people have the right to decide which territories are Ukrainian. The Constitution of Ukraine states that all temporarily occupied territories are temporarily occupied.

One thing I don't expect to wake up to is Zelenski winning the war and victory for Ukraine. It will be interesting to see what happens. Getting peace will likely cost a lot. And may take quite a bit longer than Trump expected. If peace emerges in this, it would be a massive blow to globalism. In my estimation, this war was suppose to be part two of global reset. Part 1 being global covid shutdowns. Had Hilary won in 2016 I believe we would already be in WW3. So far, it would seem, we averted two giant reset moves. So far, witnessing world conditions that kind of somewhat hint at the fading globalist reach. IMHO. Blessings.

Where was the Ukrain’s constitution when Russia first took the Crimea? It wasn’t through war.

“On March 16, 2014, a referendum was held on the peninsula’s reunification with Russia. Over 80% of voters participated in the plebiscite, the overwhelming majority of whom supported reunification (96.7% in Crimea and 95.6% in Sevastopol). On March 18, 2014, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a treaty on the admission of Crimea and Sevastopol to Russia, and on March 21, the document was ratified by the Federal Assembly. Despite the convincing results of the referendum, reflecting the clear will of the local population, Kiev has refused to recognize Crimea as part of Russia.”

Putin has made it his goal to reestablish the Soviet Union by taking back territory that used to be part it before it collapsed in 1991.
Maybe the Ukrainian President in 2014 didn't want to make it an issue at the time?
Zelenski made it an issue when he became the president of Ukraine in 2019?

Ukraine has always been deeply divided. I remember back in the '80s and '90s in Saskatchewan (which has a very high Ukrainian population) that there were two main Ukrainian population groups. And they hated each other bitterly. This animosity extended even to their art, musical and dance groups. Very sad.

Yes
In fact today there are many Ukrainian people who don't care for the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Peaceful people. There are Christians in Ukraine. Zelenski is a globalist with an agenda.
And there are also many neo-nazi people still in Ukraine.
Same with Russia. Many decent people there, including Christians. But the leadership wants to make it completely authoritarian with Communist ideology.

Crimea has changed hands a whole bunch of times over the Centuries.
In 1954 Russia ceded Crimea to Ukraine. At the time Russia and Ukraine were both independent states within the USSR.
In 2014, Russia (Gog/USSR) annexed Crimea.
The below entry in Wiki is interesting, especially starting far enough down in the article to start with the Russian Civil War of 1917 and reading through to the present Gog/USSR invasion of Ukraine.

I think he purposefully doesn't want to win so he can continue wearing his trakky daks and not a suit to formal occasions LOL

Do you think Trump will ever do that? I’m curious what’s taking him so long to cut Zelensky off.
This was what was taking him so long.

It wasn't about cutting Zelensky off but on gaining the mineral rights (Ukraine has those infamous rare earth minerals that go into chips)

Wow, that makes a lot of sense now. I’m curious how this will impact Russia and their invasion. This is definitely interesting.
