US-led hostage deal mediators drafting final 'take it or leave it' offer to be presented later this week

A final proposal for a hostage release and truce deal between Hamas and Israel is being drafted by the mediating parties, the United States, Qatar and Egypt, the Washington Post and Axios reported Monday.

While the outline was drawn up before the IDF recovered the bodies of six deceased hostages from Gaza on Sunday, including U.S. citizen Hersh Goldberg-Polin, it “only adds to the urgency of the matter. You can’t negotiate forever,” a source told the Post.

U.S. President Joe Biden is considering presenting the plan later this week, U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan told families of American hostages during a meeting on Sunday, according to Axios citing two sources with direct knowledge.

WHAT DID WE LEARN FROM BIBI'S SPEECH? I think there were four main takeaways from Bibi's speech.

1. A general message to the Israeli public that unity is vital to winning this war. This message came in the wake of the protests and failed labor strike and is something that the majority of Israelis understand and believe in.

2. A detailed explanation of the history and importance of keeping the Philadelphi Axis in the hands of the IDF. Bibi made it clear that this is Hams's oxygen line and needs to remain cut off.

3. Settling accounts with Gallant and Biden and responding to the lies promoted by the left-wing media in Israel. As usual, Bibi received many hostile questions from the media, which tried to trip him up. He responded masterfully to all of them.

4. A crystal clear message to Sinwar: no pressure from the US or far-left elements in Israel will change our stance on Philadelphi. No regional war will come and save you.

By going public and declaring in front of the entire world that under no circumstances will Israel withdraw from Philadelphi, Bibi has "locked in" that position as a public promise that he can never renege on.

Indirectly, Bibi also sent a clear message to the Biden/Harris administration: the aspect of the deal concerning Philadelphi is now non-negotiable. This firm stance leaves no room for further negotiation on this issue.

In conclusion, this was probably one of the best, if not the best, press conferences that Bibi has given as Prime Minister.
