The U.S. Department of State elevated El Salvador’s travel safety designation to the highest possible, deeming the Latin American country safer than France, the UK, and other European countries. Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele is set to visit the White House next week.
The State Department’s advisory said, “Exercise normal precautions in El Salvador,” adding, “Gang activity has decreased over the last three years. This has caused a drop in violent crimes and murders.”
