US calls for rapid deployment to Haiti after missionaries killed

The murder of two U.S. missionaries in Haiti this week by powerful gangs underscores the urgent need to deploy an international security force to the troubled Caribbean nation, the U.S. Department of State said.

Natalie and Davy Lloyd, a married missionary couple, were ambushed and killed Thursday night along with a third person as they left church.

“Unfortunately, this serves as a reminder that the security situation in Haiti cannot wait — too many innocent lives are being lost,” U.S. Department of State spokesman Matthew Miller said in a statement released late Friday.

I doubt they care about the killed missionaries.

I remember at some point in the last 2 Monkey Werx videos he was pointing out a LOT of flights in and out of Haiti starting in the US, going to Haiti and back. Either 2 days ago or 4 days ago. Can't remember which.
I don't know why an international security force needs to get involved. Haiti can take care of Haiti and reap its rewards.
I don't know why either. It's odd.

I disagree my dear brother. Someone does need to get involved at this point. The ministry I have been giving to are desperate for someone to step in. They have greatly invested into Haiti with churches, medical clinic, schools, a birthing center, a malnutrition feeding center, tilapia fish farm, vegetable farms, a marketplace, and other sustainability efforts. They also do remote medical clinics, feeding clinics, and have built houses for many families. They also have an orphanage with around 100 children, and quite a few adult children who are now trying to go to college. They are having a terrible time distributing the desperately needed food because of the gangs, the college kids can’t get to the schools, and they are limited as to where they bring the medical clinics. God has changed regions of Haiti through this ministry, but if the gangs get to the Fond Parisian area where their headquarters and orphanage is, all will be lost.

Also, we can’t just send American forces there. It would send the wrong message to the Haitians, as if we were there to take over the country. It would cause further uproar. (This is one decision that “Biden” made, that I agree with!) This is why it needs to be an international coalition.

United Nations peace keepers?

When I was traipsing around in Colombia S.A. as a Missionary, I accepted the risks that went with that. Same for those Missionaries in Haiti and everywhere else in the world. I would have never expected US Military personnel to risk their lives to help me out of a situation I had gotten myself in to.

I understand. There’s no easy answer to this brother. It just would be a terrible shame to lose not only the missionaries but all of the very large and expensive buildings, warehouses, marketplace and other sustainability projects that they have built.

I agree with Andiamo. For the sake of the children, at the very least, and the Christians there and the uneducated and poverty-stricken masses who are helpless in the face of these heavily armed drug gangs who now essentially control the entire country, somebody needs to go. Oh Lord! Raise up an army of deliverers and rescue these souls from the hand these evil, evil people. And may this entire situation result in many, many souls being added to Your Kingdom. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Pray hard for God's divine protection. That can be powerful witness.
During WWII and other times, there were cases in which the only structure standing after a weather, earthquake, or war event was the missionary(ies) house(s). Many ended up getting saved . . .

FWIW, The U.S., Canada, Uruguay, and Colombia have worked together well in the Multinational Forces and Observers (MFO) in Israel-Sinai-Egypt. Haiti is small enough, these four countries could do it, although adding another Western Hemisphere country would be nice.

I wonder if any of the US hostages taken by hamas are still alive. If we're going to be using the US military in such a way, maybe the US should conduct a hostage freeing operation in gaza first. There are probably US citizen kidnapees/hostages in a half dozen different countries at any given time, and US citizen Missionaries in peril in more than one location in the world at any given time.

People who've been saved from their own choices have balked when given a bill for the cost of saving them. A typical military operation would likely run over a million dollars even before the actual rescue began, and then the bill would go much higher. Who should pay that bill?

It's not just missionaries there :tap:

Look at the map.
Haiti is in a very strategic location for us to be watching places like Cuba, Central America, countries in the northern part of South America, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, all those little islands, Grenada, etc., overwatching Guantamo, Puerto Rico, etc. Drug, human, and weapons trafficking. Air, surface, and underwater traffic throughout the Caribbean and Atlantic. Panama Canal. Weather. Etc., etc., etc.

Etc.

My husband and I often pray for that one Nicky Cruz to come out of the gangs and be saved. It only takes one Nicky Cruz for great transformation!
And it saddens me so much how it’s always
The children, the elderly and the infirm who suffer the most in this world.
It is so unfair. Come Lord Jesus.

When I was LE in the 'hood, I used to ask God for one gang banger or wannabee to make it through high school/get a GED, live to be 18, and get out every year. And for one drug-addict prostitute to get off the drugs and off the street every year.

My church has maintained a long term missionary in Haiti. She is from Haiti and has been offered a place to stay here but she chooses to stay in Haiti and help run an orphanage and missionary school.

She would make trips yearly to our church and bring updates. Despite all the evil God is still doing a mighty work in Haiti.

Please pray for Phylis and her adopted orphans.

Brooklyn Tabernacle has two missionaries in Haiti one in Port-au-Prince one in Jacmel. They are heavily involved not just in the Gospel but also in protecting, educating, feeding and caring for the disadvantaged, widows and orphans. Their lives and those of their local volunteer staff members are at great risk. Please pray for ALL of the missionaries there, regardless of the denomination or church they are with.
