Yes a shocking story.
The government has blocked a public enquiry into the scandal of these rape gangs, speculation is that it may be due to fear of Labour losing the Muslim vote, or past involvement of senior Politicians like the Prime Minister in the scandal when he was director of Public prosecutions. Apart from an odd one why weren't the gangs prosecuted?
The rape gangs are often referred to in Media as 'Asian grooming gangs', a way to get round saying that they're often Pakistani Muslim gangs preying on children. 'Asian' in this case doesn't mean Chinese or Japanese.

Or armed parents escorting their children everywhere and guarding the schools, as Israeli parents have had to do many times
(IDF also, but right now, not many Soldiers available for what Parents can do (and are trained and equipped to do thanks to universal service, annual service requirements, and issued weapons). It's been extremely effective in deterring terror attacks on schools and other places with children.
Unfortunately, the rape gangs (by intent and design) are another reason for TPTB to start recommending the male relative escorting women and girls everywhere part of sharia, even if they don't call it that
The rationale will be that women by themselves are too vulnerable or unable to defend themselves against man/men, and unless the man escort is a relative, one could never be sure that the man isn't a rapist, or at least wouldn't rape that/those particular women and girls
Of course a better solution is to share The Gospel with unsaved, especially muslims,
train and arm women,
AND PROSECUTE AND PUNISH THE RAPISTS creeping sharia
