Trump's first real estate project in Qatar to be announced by Qatari Diar, Dar Global

Almost Heaven

Well-known
Real estate developers Qatari Diar and Dar Global will announce a deal on Wednesday to build Qatar's first Trump-branded real estate project, a source with knowledge of the plans told Reuters on Tuesday.

The Trump International Golf Course and Trump Villas will be part of the Simaisma beachside development 40 minutes north of the Qatari capital Doha, the source said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

The $5.5 billion Simaisma development, led by Qatari Diar, is designed as a 7 km-long mega entertainment resort district, anchored by an 18-hole golf course and a Land of Legends theme park.

Wednesday's deal will come amid a visit to the Gulf by Eric Trump, the son of US President Donald Trump and a Trump Organization executive. Eric Trump told Reuters on Tuesday that the Gulf region is dependent on a strong US, and that the whole region wants security so local economies can flourish.

Dar Global, the international arm of Saudi Arabia's Dar Al Arkan Real Estate Development Company 4300.SE, has already unveiled several projects in partnership with the Trump Organization.

These include plans for a Trump tower in Dubai launched on Tuesday and two more in Saudi Arabia's Jeddah and Riyadh, as well as real estate projects in Oman.

But the Trump golf course and villas will make up the first Trump-branded project in gas-rich Qatar.

When reached by Reuters, a representative for Qatari Diar would not comment on the agreement. Representatives for Dar Global and the Trump Organization did not immediately respond to Reuters' requests for confirmation and comment.

In a coup for Doha, President Trump is set to visit Qatar in the coming weeks in his first major foreign trip, which is also set to include stops in Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

Trump has suggested that he would sign major investment agreements in all three countries.

That did look odd to me. Making Qatar great again????

It DOES line up with the fact that Trump is trying to land a "peace" deal with Iran.

Iran is extremely closely tied to Qatar!

Qatar is one of their puppets. Or proxies.

How does this work when Trump's profits are tied so closely to the future of Iran's proxy Qatar- or the other projects in Oman, and in Saudi Arabia's Jeddah and Riyadh?

How does an American President fit that into his ability to remain impartial and represent the best interests of AMERICANS who voted him in????

Let alone Israel sitting on their hands waiting to go in and fix the Iran problem that threatens their lives. WAITING for the go ahead from Trump so they can deal with the situation.

But here is President Trump dealing with Iran, an enemy of Israel who could so easily destroy Qatar or Trump's investment in Qatar?

Conflict of Interest is a huge problem here. You shouldn't do real estate deals while trying to negotiate peace deals especially when the real estate deal is a proxy state of the country you are doing a peace deal with.

The deal is being done by his son Eric, but this is being touted as a flourishing local economy that benefits the whole region. Which sounds political.

Why does Qatar get to flourish? Why is Trump investing in Qatar for their benefit????

Especially when you think about the fact that the MONEY FROM QATAR goes to HAMAS in Gaza and has done ever since President Bush Jr who shoved Israel out of Gaza and handed it over to the "Palestinians" who promptly voted HAMAS into power.

So Qatar funds Hamas. And IRAN funds Hamas. And Qatar works for Iran as a proxy!

But here we are MAKING QATAR GREAT AGAIN!!! WHY is that?

Why is Trump pouring his money into investments in Qatar but landing tariffs at American firms who invest in factories to create wealth that American investors benefit by?

And how will this put pressure on Israel to comply with a peace deal with Iran that ties their hands so that Trump's investments aren't put at risk????

We all saw the potential harm to Israel when Trump said he wanted to take Gaza for his own, and develop it. Israel didn't comment, but that little AI generated video clip that Trump released from his very own Truth Social account sure did some damage to Netanyahu personally and Israel took flak from the Arab neighbours who blamed Trump and Israel equally!

Trump seems to have backed off from that. But this is not an improvement either.

And when we are discussing Israel let's not forget that Trump's initial round of tariffs before he backed down to 10% had Iran and Russia at zero tariffs, (he was negotiating peace deals with both), Qatar was only 10% while ISRAEL WAS AT 17% which remained at 17% even though Israel dropped ALL tariffs - and only dropped to a mere 10% when Trump had to back off from his more extreme tariffs due to the markets reacting.

Was he hoping that by going light on Qatar and Iran and heavier on his friends in Israel that he would pull off a peace deal and that would make it all ok?

He didn't tariff Russia either, and he was in talks with Putin (still is) over Ukraine. Ukraine was hit at 25% for metals (including the rare earth that Trump was after) and 10% otherwise. As I checked those numbers the news is now reporting that Trump has his deal to take Ukrainian resources.

Makes you wonder whose side Trump is really on when he penalizes his friends and allies, and extends grace to his enemies.

I don’t have anything to add. I’m just always excited when I see you added commentary, Margery, because it helps me understand what is going on in other parts of the World.

This is me, the moment I see you wrote a lengthy post. :book:

Real estate mogul Witkoff is Trump’s unorthodox choice to serve as his Middle East envoy

Among the many appointments President-elect Donald Trump has rolled out in recent weeks, his decision to name Steve Witkoff, a longtime friend and golfing partner, as special envoy to the Middle East — a crucial role in Trump’s first term — came as an unusual casting choice.

Witkoff, a billionaire real estate executive from New York City, has no diplomatic experience and is not viewed as an authority on geopolitical dynamics in the Middle East — where tensions have risen since Trump was last in office, amid a widening regional war between Israel and several Iran-backed proxy groups. Witkoff’s past financial dealings with Qatar, which has targeted him in its lobbying, have also raised questions about conflicts of interest.

Last May, for instance, Witkoff spoke on a panel about the future of cities at the Qatar Economic Forum in Doha, where he shared the stage with Khalid Ahmed Al-Obaidli, the president of Qatar’s Real Estate Regulatory Authority, among others. In his comments, Witkoff said he was optimistic about investment opportunities in Qatar because of what he called “solid government,” adding that he sensed “a strong compact between government and private business” in the Gulf kingdom.

Yup as this article and YT segment by JNS news Jonathan Tobin (excellent reporter) says here Did Iran ally Qatar purchase Trump envoy Steve Witkoff?

In 2023 he sold a problem property in Manhattan to the Qatari Investment Authority, for 623 million as a buyout to get that property off his hands. Yes the property has a fancy title, but it was a problem and Qatar solved his problem.

Since then he's been closely tied to Qatar. The Qataris would have noticed that he was a long time golf buddy and real estate mogul friend of Donald Trump and that investment paid off when Witkoff was appointed Trump's Middle East fix it man. Of course he turned to Qatar.

And to anyone's illusion, Qatar is no friend of Israel.
