WASHINGTON, Aug 5 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday the federal government could take control of Washington D.C. if the local government "doesn't get its act together," with his comments coming in a social media post complaining about crime in the U.S. capital.

"The Law in D.C. must be changed to prosecute these 'minors' as adults, and lock them up for a long time, starting at age 14," Trump said in his post.

The president said that a young man who was working for DOGE was 'very badly hurt' and 'beat up by a bunch of thugs in D.C.'

The identity of the 19-year-old young man involved in the reported incident is Edward Coristine, famously nicknamed 'Big Balls' by his peers.

I read that Trump is meeting Putin in Alaska this coming week in regards to the Ukraine issue. There are rumors that he might offer
Alaska to Putin if he will leave Ukraine alone. Why would he hold the meeting in Alaska?? No idea if it's true or not, but I will be watching.
My son lives in Kodiak and will be affected by this, if true. If it IS true, Trump will most likely have to establish military law nation-wide once the news breaks. Oh my, the interesting times we are now living in. Nothing would surprise me.

Trump will never let Alaska go. Whatever else he does, one thing is sure- he loves America. His ideas even the more off the wall ones, spring from America First. He is the LAST person that would let Alaska go.

I think he might have picked Alaska for the meeting as a pointed comment on the fact that it used to be Russian territory before it was sold to the US. In other words, Putin is on notice that he'd better behave because he might have to let go other territory just to make ends meet, just like Alaska went at a fire sale price to the USA.

My understanding of things is that Washington DC isn't quite a State, it is more of a federal area and I noticed that he didn't use the army but rather he called on a different police force that usually polices National Parks.

At least that was on our news up here in Canada. So I don't think it's martial law or under military control- he's dealing with the Posse Comitatus Act if he does that, and his recent use of the military in California is now before the courts to see if it stands up to the US Constitution or was a breach of the Posse Comitatus Act.

He's basically just using extra police from outside the DC jurisdiction (and that might be important if there is local corruption involved) and the meeting in Alaska is to remind Putin that the US is watching the Ukraine Russia situation and is bigger and way richer than Russia could ever hope to be.

This is a good move by the President. Wash DC is under the control of the federal government, so its no issue with Trump bringing in the National guard to help curb the crime.
